Abstract

A method and apparatus for transmitting a message in a wireless communication system is provided. A user equipment (UE) determines that a first cell, serving the UE currently, is not preferred, and transmits a message, to the first cell, including a request for a handover from the first cell to a second cell.

Claims

1. A method for transmitting, by a user equipment (UE), a message in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

determining that a first cell, serving the UE currently, is not preferred; and

transmitting a message, to the first cell, including a request for a handover from the first cell to a second cell.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first cell is not preferred when the UE detects in-device coexistence (IDC) interference on a frequency of the first cell.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first cell is not preferred when the UE is interested to receive a preferred service not provided by the first cell.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the preferred service is a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) service.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein the preferred service is a voice service.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the first cell is one of a closed subscriber group (CSG) cell, a small cell, a pico cell and a femto cell.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the first cell is not preferred when the first cell is a CSG cell and the UE recognizes the second cell which is another CSG cell.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the first cell is not preferred when the first cell and the second cell operate in different radio access technologies (RATs) and the RAT of the first cell is not preferred.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the message is a proximity indication.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the proximity indication indicates that the UE leaves a proximity of the first cell.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the message includes a cause corresponding to a reason why the UE transmits the message.

12. A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:

a radio frequency (RF) unit for transmitting or receiving a radio signal; and

a processor coupled to the RF unit, and configured for;

determining that a first cell, serving the UE currently, is not preferred; and

transmitting a message, to the first cell, including a request for a handover from the first cell to a second cell.

13. The UE of claim 12, wherein the first cell is not preferred when the UE detects in-device coexistence (IDC) interference on a frequency of the first cell.

14. The UE of claim 12, wherein the first cell is not preferred when the UE is interested to receive a preferred service not provided by the first cell.

15. The UE of claim 12, wherein the first cell is one of a closed subscriber group (CSG) cell, a small cell, a pico cell and a femto cell.
