Abstract

A LED based illumination source with integrated communications and processing functions, which can communicate via wireless communications to a mobile phone, smart phone, smart pad, notebook, tablet, desktop or other computing device. The LED based illumination source is programmed to operate autonomously, and is able to alter its behavior, based on the proximity of a controlling element. The communications and processing functions can also be integrated into other household and commercial electrical devices, such as wall outlets, light switches, plug in timers, appliances, and the like.

Claims

1. An LED bulb apparatus with dual power mode, comprising:

a plurality of LEDs;

a power source, coupled to the plurality LEDs, for supplying power to the plurality of LEDs during a normal operation mode; and

a battery, coupled to the plurality of LEDs, for supplying power to one or more LEDs in the plurality of LEDs during a power interruption mode.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a power detection circuit adapted to detect a power failure in which at such time the plurality of LEDs switches from the normal operation mode to the power interruption mode.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a wireless communication circuit for controlling the intensity and number of active LEDs during the power interruption mode.

4. A method for electronic advertisement, comprising:

detecting the presence of a first device and a second device when the first device is in a predetermined proximity of the second device; and

exchanging data between the first device and the second device, thereby causing an electronic advertisement to be generated.

5. The method of claim 4, after exchanging the data between the first and second devices, further comprising communicating from the first device to a computer server to generate the electronic advertisement to the second device.

6. The method of claim 4, after exchanging the data between the first and second devices, further comprising communicating from the second device to a computer server to generate the electronic advertisement to the second device.

7. The method of claim 4, wherein the first device comprises an LED light source.

8. The method of claim 4, wherein the second device comprises a mobile device.

9. A method for operating a smart wireless device, comprising:

operating in a first autonomous state; and

operating a second state when a mobile device is within a predetermined proximity of the smart wireless device.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising associating the second operating state with the identity of the mobile device.

11. The method of claim 9, further comprising reverting back to the first autonomous state when the mobile device is outside of the predetermined proximity of the smart wireless device.

12. The method of claim 9, further comprising reverting back to the first autonomous state after a programmable elapsed time triggered when the mobile device moves outside the predetermined proximity of the smart wireless device.

13. A smart wireless device, comprising a circuit having a first autonomous operating state and a second operating state, the second operating state being initiated by a mobile device when the mobile device is within a predetermined proximity of the smart wireless device.

14. The smart wireless device of claim 13, wherein the second operating state is associated with the identity of the mobile device.

15. The smart wireless device of claim 13, wherein the circuit changes back to the first autonomous operating state when the mobile device is outside of the predetermined proximity of the smart wireless device.

16. The smart wireless device of claim 13, wherein the circuit changes back to the first autonomous operating state after a programmable elapsed time triggered when the mobile device moves outside the predetermined proximity of the smart wireless device.
