Abstract

An apparatus and system comprise a noise cancelation power converter being configured for phase inverted synchronous operation with respect to a primary power converter. The primary power converter is operable to supply power to at least one device. The primary power converter produces a first electromagnetic interference during operation to supply the power. The first electromagnetic interference is coupleable to the device. The noise cancelation power converter further is configured with parasitic components substantially matching parasitic components of the primary power converter. The noise cancelation power converter further produces a second electromagnetic interference that is coupleable to the device. The second electromagnetic interference comprises frequency components having an inverted phase relative to frequency components of the first electromagnetic interference for substantially reducing a sum of the first electromagnetic interference and the second electromagnetic interference during coupling to the device.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a noise cancelation power converter being configured for phase inverted synchronous operation with respect to a primary power converter, the primary power converter being operable to supply power to at least one device, the primary power converter further producing a first electromagnetic interference during operation to supply the power, the first electromagnetic interference being coupleable to the device, said noise cancelation power converter further being configured with parasitic components substantially matching parasitic components of the primary power converter, said noise cancelation power converter further producing a second electromagnetic interference being coupleable to the device, the second electromagnetic interference comprising frequency components having an inverted phase relative to frequency components of the first electromagnetic interference for substantially reducing a sum of the first electromagnetic interference and the second electromagnetic interference during coupling to the device.

2. The apparatus as recited in claim 1, in which said noise cancelation power converter and the primary power converter are each further configured for operation as switching regulators.

3. The apparatus as recited in claim 2, in which a switching signal of said noise cancelation power converter is in phase inversion with respect to a switching signal of the primary power converter.

4. The apparatus as recited in claim 3, in which said noise cancelation power converter further comprises a snubber circuit coupled to a switching node for adjustment of the second electromagnetic interference.

5. The apparatus as recited in claim 3, in which said noise cancelation power converter further comprises a passive circuit coupled to a control gate for adjustment of the second electromagnetic interference.

6. The apparatus as recited in claim 2, in which said noise cancelation power converter is further configured for operation in a continuous conduction mode.

7. The apparatus as recited in claim 2, in which said noise cancelation power converter is further configured for operation in an open loop mode.

8. The apparatus as recited in claim 1, in which said noise cancelation power converter is further configured for operation in proximity to the primary power converter.

9. The apparatus as recited in claim 2, in which said noise cancelation power converter and the primary power converter share a common substrate.

10. The apparatus as recited in claim 2, in which said noise cancelation power converter further comprises a boost or buck type converter.

11. An apparatus comprising:

means being configured for operating in a phase inverted synchronous mode with respect to a primary power converter, the primary power converter being operable to supply power to at least one device, the primary power converter further producing a first electromagnetic interference during operation to supply the power, the first electromagnetic interference being coupleable to the device, said means being further configured for producing a second electromagnetic interference being coupleable to the device, the second electromagnetic interference comprising frequency components having an inverted phase relative to frequency components of the first electromagnetic interference for substantially reducing a sum of the first electromagnetic interference and the second electromagnetic interference during coupling to the device.

12. A system comprising:

a primary power converter, said primary power converter being operable to supply power to at least one device, said primary power converter further producing a first electromagnetic interference during operation to supply the power, said first electromagnetic interference being coupleable to the device; and

a noise cancelation power converter being configured for phase inverted synchronous operation with respect to said primary power converter, said noise cancelation power converter further being configured with parasitic components substantially matching parasitic components of the primary power converter, said noise cancelation power converter further producing a second electromagnetic interference being coupleable to the device, said second electromagnetic interference comprising frequency components having an inverted phase relative to frequency components of said first electromagnetic interference for substantially reducing a sum of said first electromagnetic interference and said second electromagnetic interference during coupling to the device.

13. The apparatus as recited in claim 12, in which said noise cancelation power converter and said primary power converter are each further configured for operation as switching regulators.

14. The apparatus as recited in claim 13, in which a switching signal of said noise cancelation power converter is in phase inversion with respect a switching signal of said primary power converter.

15. The apparatus as recited in claim 14, in which said noise cancelation power converter or said primary power converter further comprises a snubber circuit coupled to a switching node for adjustment of electromagnetic interference components.

16. The apparatus as recited in claim 14, in which said noise cancelation power converter or said primary power converter further comprises a passive circuit coupled to a control gate for adjustment of electromagnetic interference components.

17. The apparatus as recited in claim 13, in which said noise cancelation power converter is further configured for operation in a continuous conduction mode.

18. The apparatus as recited in claim 13, in which said noise cancelation power converter is further configured for operation in an open loop mode.

19. The apparatus as recited in claim 12, in which said noise cancelation power converter is further configured for operation in proximity to said primary power converter.

20. The apparatus as recited in claim 13, in which said noise cancelation power converter and said primary power converter share a common substrate.
