Abstract

Various aspects of a system and a method for providing one or more game extensions in a gaming environment are disclosed herein. The one or more game extensions that correspond to a selected game are dynamically determined. The game is selected based on a user input at a computing device. The one or more game extensions are transmitted to the computing device. Each of the one or more game extensions are associated with one or more pre-defined configurable actions that are triggered based on user interaction with a respective game extension.

Claims

1. A system for providing one or more game extensions in a gaming environment, the system comprising:

in a server communicatively coupled to a computing device, one or more processors in said server operable to;

dynamically determine said one or more game extensions corresponding to a selected game, wherein said game is selected based on receiving a user input at said computing device;

transmit said one or more game extensions to said computing device, wherein each of said one or more game extensions is associated with one or more pre-defined configurable actions that are triggered based on user interaction with said one or more game extensions.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein said one or more game extensions comprise one or more of:

an application, an applet, a plug-in, an add-on, a video, an image, an animation, and/or a hyperlink to a web-page.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein said user input indicating said selection of said game is received from said computing device, and wherein said computing device is a gaming console.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein said one or more game extensions are determined based on a user profile of a user selecting said game.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein said one or more game extensions are displayed in a configurable area of an information panel associated with a user profile in said gaming environment.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein said one or more game extensions are displayed as one or more display tiles in said configurable area.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein said one or more game extensions comprise one or more of:

pre-defined game extensions from a library of game extensions, or configurable game extensions comprising configurable HyperText Markup Language (HTML) based content.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein said one or more game extensions are compiled for display in response to said selection of said game.

9. A system for managing one or more game extensions in a gaming environment, the system comprising:

in a game server communicatively coupled to a computing device, one or more processors in said game server operable to;

receive an authentication code corresponding to each of said one or more game extensions from said computing device;

transmit said received authentication code to an authentication server;

receive an access token from said authentication server in response to said transmitted authentication code; and

transmit data associated with a respective game extension of said one or more game extensions to said computing device to generate said one or more game extensions.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein said game server retrieves said data from a game database using said access token.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein said generated one or more game extensions are submitted from said computing device to said game server in said gaming environment.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein each of said generated one or more game extensions is associated with one or more pre-defined configurable actions that are triggered based on user interaction with said generated one or more game extensions.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein said one or more game extensions comprise one or more of:

an application, an applet, a plug-in, an add-on, a video, an image, an animation, and/or a hyperlink to a web-page.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein said user input indicating said selection of said game is received from said computing device, and wherein said computing device is a gaming console.

17. The method of claim 13, wherein said one or more game extensions are determined based on a user profile of a user selecting said game.

18. The method of claim 13, wherein said one or more game extensions are displayed in a configurable area of an information panel associated with a user profile in said gaming environment.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein said one or more game extensions are displayed as one or more display tiles in said configurable area.

20. The method of claim 13, wherein said one or more game extensions comprise one or more of:

pre-defined game extensions from a library of game extensions, or configurable game extensions comprising configurable HyperText Markup Language (HTML) based content.

21. The method of claim 13, further comprising compiling said one or more game extensions in response to said selection of said game.

14. A method for providing one or more game extensions in a gaming environment, the method comprising:

dynamically determining said one or more game extensions corresponding to a selected game, wherein said game is selected based on receiving a user input at a computing device;

transmitting said one or more game extensions to said computing device, wherein each of said one or more game extensions is associated with one or more pre-defined configurable actions that are triggered based on user interaction with said one or more game extensions.
