Abstract

Systems and methods for content creation, selection, organization and distribution are described. Video content of varying lengths is created based on one or more moods conveyed by the video content to viewers. The content can be searched based on those moods using ranges or sensory moods. Range searches are performed by looking for content having corresponding ranges and ranked based on the level of correspondence. Negative limitations may be used to exclude certain content that might otherwise be ranked based on the level of correspondence. Video content may include a single video related to a single topic, a series of videos related to the same topic, and compilations of videos covering a range of topics and having specified moods in common. Advertisements may be integrated into the video content or associated with the content in other ways. Different types of video content may be presented to users through a variety of different interfaces that are appropriate for the content. Distribution of content may be structured based on the moods associated with the content and used to influence viewers'"'"' moods for commercial or other purposes.

Claims

1. A method for creating and presenting an item of content, comprising:

selecting one or more moods among a plurality of moods that will be perceived by a user upon being exposed to the item of content;

creating the item of content based on the selected one or more moods;

storing the item of content within a non-transitory memory of a computer system;

receiving a request from the user through a user interface of the computer system for an item of content; and

presenting through the user interface the item of content to the user based on the selected one or more moods.

2. The method recited in claim 1, wherein the item of content is video content of less than five minutes in length.

3. The method recited in claim 1, wherein the item of content is video content and wherein presenting through the user interface includes the distribution of a single video related to a single mood.

4. The method recited in claim 1, wherein the item of content is video content and wherein presenting through the user interface includes the distribution of a series of video related to a single mood.

5. The method recited in claim 1, wherein the item of content is video content and wherein presenting through the user interface includes the distribution of a series of video related to a plurality of moods.

6. The method recited in claim 1, wherein presenting through the user interface includes enabling the user to select the item of content based on the one or more moods.

7. The method recited in claim 1, wherein presenting through the user interface includes influencing a behavior by the user based on the selected one or more moods.

8. The method recited in claim 1, wherein creating includes integrating information for a product or a service into the item of content.

9. The method recited in claim 1, wherein creating includes adding separate information for a product or a service to the item of content before or after the item of content.

10. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising instructions for creating and presenting one or more items of content to users, the medium comprising instructions that, when executed on a computer system, cause the computer system to at least:

enable a first user to select through a user interface of the computer system one or more moods among a plurality of moods that will be perceived by a second user upon being exposed to the one or more items of content;

enable the first user to store through the computer system one or more items of content that have been created based on the selected one or more moods;

present through a user interface of the computer system to the second user one or more mood identifiers for selection by the second user, each mood identifier among the one or more mood identifiers representing an intensity of a mood among the selected one or more moods;

search with the computer system the one or more items of content by the second user for the one or more mood identifiers selected by the second user; and

present to the second user through the user interface one or more items of content based on a level of correspondence between the one or more mood identifiers selected by the second user and the one or more moods selected by the first user.

11. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more items of content are video content of less than five minutes in length.

12. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more items of content are video content and presentation to the second user includes the distribution of a single video related to a single mood.

13. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more items of content are video content and presentation to second user includes the distribution of a series of video related to a single mood.

14. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more items of content are video content and presentation to the second user includes the distribution of a series of video related to a plurality of moods.

15. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium recited in claim 10, wherein the search with the computer system enables the second user to select the one or more items of content based on the one or more moods.

16. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium recited in claim 10, wherein the presentation to the second user influences a behavior by the second user based on the one or more moods selected by the first user.

17. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more items of content include information for a product or a service integrated into the one or more items of content.

18. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more items of content include separate information for a product or a service presented to the second user before or after presentation of the one or more items of content.
