Abstract

According to the invention, a method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display is disclosed. The method may include receiving information identifying a location of the gaze point of the user on the display. The method may also include, based at least in part on the location of the gaze point, causing a virtual camera perspective to change, thereby causing content on the display associated with the virtual camera to change.

Claims

1. A method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display, wherein the method comprises:

receiving information identifying a location of the gaze point of the user on the display; and

based at least in part on the location of the gaze point, causing a virtual camera perspective to change, thereby causing content on the display associated with the virtual camera to change.

2. The method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 1, wherein causing the virtual camera perspective to change comprises:

panning the virtual camera.

3. The method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 1, wherein:

a speed at which the content on the display is changed is based at least in part on a proximity of the gaze point to an edge of the display.

4. The method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 1, wherein:

a speed at which the content on the display is changed is based at least in part on a proximity of the gaze point to a center of the display.

5. The method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 1, wherein the method further comprises:

ceasing change of the virtual camera perspective based at least in part on receipt of a non-gaze input.

6. The method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 5, wherein:

ceasing change of the virtual camera perspective comprises causing change of the virtual camera perspective to decelerate prior to stopping change of the virtual camera perspective.

7. The method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 1, wherein:

causing the content on the display to change comprises causing the content to pan the content toward an opposite side of the display from the gaze point.

8. The method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 1, wherein:

causing the content on the display to change comprises causing the display to pan the content a predetermined amount.

9. The method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 1, wherein the method further comprises:

ceasing change of the virtual camera perspective based at least in part on a change of the gaze point of the user.

10. The method for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 9, wherein:

ceasing change of the virtual camera perspective comprises causing change of the virtual camera perspective to decelerate prior to stopping change of the virtual camera perspective.

11. A non-transitory machine readable medium having instructions stored thereon for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display, the instructions executable by at least one processor for at least:

receiving information identifying a location of the gaze point of the user on the display; and

based at least in part on the location of the gaze point, causing a virtual camera perspective to change, thereby causing content on the display associated with the virtual camera to change.

12. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 11, wherein causing the virtual camera perspective to change comprises:

panning the virtual camera.

13. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 11, wherein:

a speed at which the content on the display is changed is based at least in part on a proximity of the gaze point to an edge of the display.

14. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 11, wherein the instructions are further executable for at least:

ceasing change of the virtual camera perspective based at least in part on receipt of a non-gaze input.

15. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 11, wherein the instructions are further executable for at least:

ceasing change of the virtual camera perspective based at least in part on a change of the gaze point of the user.

16. A system for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display, the system comprising:

an eye tracking device for determining a location of the gaze point of the user on the display; and

a processor for causing, based at least in part on the location of the gaze point, a virtual camera perspective to change, thereby causing content on the display associated with the virtual camera to change.

17. The system for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 16, wherein causing the virtual camera perspective to change comprises:

panning the virtual camera.

18. The system for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 16, wherein:

a speed at which the content on the display is changed is based at least in part on a proximity of the gaze point to an edge of the display.

19. The system for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 16, wherein the processor is further for:

ceasing change of the virtual camera perspective based at least in part on receipt of a non-gaze input.

20. The system for changing a display based at least in part on a gaze point of a user on the display of claim 16, wherein the processor is further for:

ceasing change of the virtual camera perspective based at least in part on a change of the gaze point of the user.
