A device for measuring sound level by a MEMS microphone, wherein the MEMS microphone is coupled with an external acoustic attenuator comprising a pressure divider configured to limit the acoustic pressure which reaches a membrane of the microphone from an inlet opening, wherein the pressure divider connects the inlet opening via an inlet channel and a resonant cavity to the membrane of the microphone and connects the resonant cavity via a vent channel to a vent chamber.
