Abstract

A method and system for distributed management and maintenance of remote transmitters, or beacons, via a remotely hosted integrated software platform and the interaction of the beacons with mobile devices in an environment where the beacons are located.

Claims

1. A system for providing remote management of a venue having a plurality of sections, comprising:

a plurality of beacons, each of the beacons having a unique identifier and being physically disposed in one of the sections, each of the beacons being configured to generate a short range wireless message in response to a query that includes the respective unique identifier and an information segment indicative of a current condition of the respective beacon; and

a central server configured to receive device messages from devices in said venue, each device being configured to generate a query in a respective section and to receive a respective beacon message from the beacon disposed in the respective section, said device message including all information from said beacon message, said central server being configured to analyze device messages and generate a report about the status of at least some of said beacons based on said device messages.
