Abstract

Applications can be localized by localization experts to allow them to be used by a broader customer base. The localization can be done given interface context to produce more applicable results. A localization expert may determine that certain content within the interface context should be localized, however is not localizable by the expert. The localization expert may indicate that the content is localizable and the developer may receive the indication and provide the localization expert with updated interface context allowing localization of the previously un-localizable content.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

displaying a first snapshot of an interface based upon an application, the first snapshot having a first editable text string in English and a first non-editable text string in English;

receiving an indication that the first English non-editable text string of the first snapshot is translatable;

sending an indicator message based on the indication that the first non-editable English text string of the first snapshot is translatable;

receiving a second snapshot of the interface based upon the application, the second snapshot including a second editable English text string that corresponds to the first non-editable English text sting;

receiving a translation of the second editable English text string.

2. A method, comprising:

displaying, on a display of a computer having one or more processors, first context information for an interface based upon an application, the first context information having a first editable portion and a first non-editable portion;

receiving, at the computer and from a localization expert, an indication that the first non-editable portion of the first context information is localizable; and

sending, from the computer, an indicator message based on the indication that the first non-editable portion of the first context information is localizable.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising receiving, at the computer, second context information for the interface based upon the application, the second context information including a second editable portion corresponding to the first non-editable portion.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising receiving, at the computer, a localization edit corresponding to the second editable portion.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the localization edit includes a modification of character, font, font style, text effect, spacing, or color corresponding to the second editable portion.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein the localization edit includes a modification of the size, color, scaling ratio, shade, brightness, contrast, content, shadow, artistic effect, reflection settings, or bevel corresponding to the second editable portion.

7. The method of claim 3, wherein the receiving second context information comprises receiving a second highlighted snapshot based on the second editable portion.

8. The method of claim 2, wherein the first non-editable portion is text based.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the first non-editable portion comprises a text string.

10. The method of claim 2, wherein the first non-editable portion is non-text based.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the first non-editable comprises an image.

12. The method of claim 2, further comprising receiving, at the computer, a localization comment corresponding to the indication that first non-editable portion is localizable.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the localization comment comprises an explanation of the indication.

14. The method of claim 2, wherein the first context information is a snapshot based on the application.

15. The method of claim 2, wherein the receiving an indication comprises receiving a first highlighted snapshot based on the first non-editable portion.

16. The method of claim 2, further comprising receiving, at the computer, a rating corresponding to the indication, wherein the rating indicates a priority value for the indication.

17. A system comprising:

a database storing first context information of an interface based upon an application, the first context information having a first editable portion and a first on-editable portion;

a processor in connection with said database, said processor configured to;

display the first context information;

receive an indication from a localization expert that the first non-editable portion of the first context information is localizable; and

send an indicator message based on the indication that the first non-editable portion of the first context information is localizable.

18. The system of claim 17, further configured to receive second context information of the interface based upon the application, the second context information including a second editable portion corresponding to the first non-editable text portion.

19. The system of claim 17, wherein the first non-editable portion is text based.

20. The system of claim 17, wherein the first non-editable portion is non-text based.
