Abstract

A system for detecting and reporting the separation of two entities including where the entities are people or items. In some implementations, the system performs separation checking triggered by movement conditions, or by checking of the state of an entity upon separation, and additionally adapts checking methods according to a condition.

Claims

1. A conditional separation alert system, the system comprising:

a first processor consisting of a proximity determination component;

a BLUETOOTH™

low energy radio link; and

a second processor consisting of one movement indicator input, coupled by said BLUETOOTH™

low energy radio link to said first processor, further consisting of a proximity determination component,

wherein said at least one movement indicator input on said second processor triggers a determination of proximity between said first and said second processors using said proximity determination components, and

wherein an alert is displayed on said second processor based upon said determination of proximity exceeding a threshold.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein said at least one movement indicator input is selected from the group consisting of an accelerator, global positioning system, vibration switch, tilt switch, BLUETOOTH™

signal, BLUETOOTH™

low energy signal, WiFi, radio location techniques, inertial positioning system and radio triangulation.

The system of claim 1, wherein said at least one movement indicator input consists of a first sensor including an accelerometer on said first processor, and further consisting of a second sensor including an accelerometer on said second processor, and wherein a difference in movement measurements between said first sensor on said first processor and said second sensor on said second processor communicated by said BLUETOOTH™

low energy radio link triggers said proximity determination and said generation of an alert based upon determination of proximity exceeding a threshold.

The system of claim 1, further consisting of a sensor detection pattern indicating that a person is standing up or walking and further consisting of a said movement indicator input selected from the group consisting of an accelerometer, inertial positioning system and tilt switch, and wherein comparison of said movement indicator to said sensor detection pattern initiates said proximity determination and said generation of an alert based upon determination of proximity exceeding a threshold.

The system of claim 2, further defining locations as zones with assigned risk levels, and wherein said at least one movement indicator input is the movement between or the presence in a said zones with said assigned risk levels, and wherein said movement to a high risk zone from a low risk zone or presence in a high risk zone initiates said proximity determination.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein said first processor is attached to an entity selected from the group consisting of an epinephrine auto injector, Inhaler, sunscreen, hat, bag, umbrella, medicine container, wallet and keys.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein said first processor is attached to an entity to be monitored.

8. The system of claim 1, further comprising at least one data input selected from the group consisting of weather and time information, and wherein said at least one data input is matched against criteria, and wherein a combination of said data input match and said at least one movement indicator input are both required to trigger said proximity determination.

9. The system of claim 1, further consisting of an audio alarm coupled to said first processor or said second processor, wherein said alert triggers an audio alarm on said first processor or said second processor.

10. A conditional separation alert system, the system comprising:

at least one sensor detection pattern consisting of at least one sensor value;

at least one sensor coupled to a first processor;

a BLUETOOTH™

low energy radio link; and

a second processor consisting of at least one movement indicator input, coupled by said BLUETOOTH™

low energy radio link to said first processor,

wherein said at least one movement indicator input initiates an evaluation request sent by said BLUETOOTH™

low energy radio link to said first processor to compare said at least one sensor value from said at least one sensor with said at least one sensor detection pattern on said first processor, and

wherein an evaluation result is communicated by said BLUETOOTH™

low energy radio link from said first processor to said second processor, and

wherein said evaluation result based upon said comparison of said at least one sensor detection pattern is reported on said second processor.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein said at least movement indicator input is selected from the group consisting of an accelerator, global positioning system, radio location techniques, BLUETOOTH™

low energy signal, BLUETOOTH™

signal, WiFi, inertial positioning system, vibration, tilt switch and radio triangulation.

The system of claim 10, further comprising proximity determination components on both said first processor and second processor, and wherein said reporting is based upon the determination of proximity between said first processor and second processor using said proximity determination components surpassing a distance separation threshold.

13. The system of claim 10, wherein the sensor is selected from the group of sensors consisting of an accelerometer, pressure sensor, magnetometer and contact switch is used to check the usage of an entity.

14. The system of claim 10, wherein the sensor is selected from the group of sensors consisting of an accelerometer, pressure sensor, passive infrared sensor, magnetometer and contact switch is used to check the security of an entity.

The system of claim 11, further defining locations as zones with assigned risk levels, and wherein said at least one movement indicator input indicates movement between or the presence in a said zone with said risk level, and wherein said movement to a high risk zone from a low risk zone or presence in a high risk zone initiates said evaluation of said at least one sensor detection pattern and said reporting of said evaluation result on said second processor.

16. The system of claim 10, wherein said first processor is attached to an entity selected from the group consisting of a medicine container, bag lock, sunscreen, door, window, water outlet, heater, oven, electrical appliance, door lock and window lock.

17. A conditional separation alert system, the system comprising:

a first processor consisting of a proximity determination component;

a BLUETOOTH™

low energy radio link; and

a second processor consisting of at least one movement indicator input, coupled by said BLUETOOTH™

low energy radio link to said first processor, further consisting of a proximity determination component, and further consisting of at least one location zone with assigned risk level,

wherein said at least one movement indicator input indicates movement between or the presence in a said location zone with said assigned risk level, and wherein said movement to a different risk zone or presence in a different risk zone alters the frequency of determination of proximity between said first processor and said second processor using said proximity determination components, and

wherein an alert is generated on said second processor based upon proximity of said first processor and said second processors exceeding a threshold.

The system of claim 17, further defining locations as zones with assigned risk levels, and wherein said at least one movement indicator input indicates movement between or the presence in a said zone with said risk level, and whereby said movement to a high risk zone increases said frequency of checking.

19. The system of claim 17, wherein said movement indicator inputs are selected from the group consisting of global positioning systems, WiFi, radio locators and accelerometers, and wherein initiation of BLUETOOTH™

low energy pairing or change to said frequency of determination of proximity is determined by said movement indicators.

20. The system of claim 17, wherein said movement indicator inputs are time indicators including absolute or relative time measurements, and wherein initiation of BLUETOOTH™

low energy pairing or change to said frequency of determination of proximity is determined by said time indicators.

21. The system of claim 17, wherein said movement indicator inputs are data types selected from the group consisting of weather and time, and wherein initiation of BLUETOOTH™

low energy pairing or change to said frequency of determination of proximity is varied according to said data.
