Abstract

A method for downloading content of an electronic device and an electronic device thereof are provided. The method includes forming a network group with a guest terminal as a host terminal, acquiring a content download performance of the guest terminal, determining a quantity of content to be downloaded to the guest terminal, and transmitting a message for requesting the determined quantity of content to be downloaded to the guest terminal separately and a remaining quantity of content to be downloaded to the host terminal to a content provider server.

Claims

1. A method for operating of an electronic device, the method comprising:

forming a network group with a guest terminal as a host terminal;

acquiring a content download performance of the guest terminal;

determining a quantity of content to be downloaded to the guest terminal; and

transmitting a message for requesting the determined quantity of content to be downloaded to the guest terminal separately and a remaining quantity of content to be downloaded to the host terminal to a content provider server.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the forming comprises forming the network group via one or more local communication schemes from among Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi)-direct, Bluetooth (BT), and Near Field Communication (NFC).

The method of claim 1, wherein the acquiring of the content download performance of the guest terminal comprises acquiring the content download performance of the guest terminal based on a kind of a mobile communication network that the guest terminal accesses and a kind of a local communication module used for forming the network group.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the kind of the mobile communication network is at least one of Long Term Advanced (LTE-A), LTE, and Third Generation (3G), and

wherein the kind of the local communication module is at least one of a WiFi module, a Bluetooth module, and an NFC module.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein the quantity of content to be downloaded to the guest terminal depends on the kind of the local communication module used for forming the network group.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining comprises determining the quantity of content to be downloaded to each terminal in proportion to a content download performance of the host terminal forming the network group and the content download performance of the guest terminal.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the message comprises at least one of terminal access information, terminal identification information, content quantity information, and information indicating whether a terminal is the host terminal.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the content provider server divides content into sections to be downloaded to each terminal according to the message, and transmits the content of the divided section to each terminal.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the host terminal and the guest terminal share the content downloaded from the content provider server by multicasting in the network group.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the guest terminal transmits a notification message to the host terminal when the download from the content provider server is normally completed, and

wherein the host terminal determines whether a content download operation is normally completed based on the notification message.

20. A computer readable storage medium which stores a program for performing the method of claim 1.

11. An electronic device comprising:

a mobile communication module configured to access a mobile communication network;

a local communication module configured to access a local communication network; and

a processor configured to control operations of the mobile communication module and the local communication module,

wherein the processor is further configured to form a network group with a guest terminal as a host terminal, to acquire a content download performance of the guest terminal, and to determine a quantity of content to be downloaded to the guest terminal, and

wherein the processor is further configured to transmit a message for requesting the determined quantity of content to be downloaded to the guest terminal separately and a remaining quantity of content to be downloaded to the host terminal to a content provider server.

12. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to form the network group via at least one local communication scheme from among Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi)-direct, Bluetooth (BT), and Near Field Communication (NFC).

The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to acquire the content download performance of the guest terminal based on a kind of a mobile communication network that the guest terminal accesses and a kind of a local communication module used for forming the network group.

14. The electronic device of claim 13,

wherein the kind of the mobile communication network is at least one of Long Term Advanced (LTE-A), LTE, and Third Generation (3G), and

wherein the kind of the local communication module is at least one of a WiFi module, a Bluetooth module, and an NFC module.

15. The electronic device of claim 13, wherein the quantity of content to be downloaded to the guest terminal depends on the kind of the local communication module used for forming the network group.

The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to determine the quantity of content to be downloaded to each terminal in proportion to a content download performance of the host terminal forming the network group and the content download performance of the guest terminal.

17. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the message comprises at least one of terminal access information, terminal identification information, content quantity information, and information indicating whether a terminal is the host terminal.

18. The electronic device of claim 17, wherein the content provider server divides content into sections to be downloaded to each terminal according to the message, and transmits the content of the divided section to each terminal.

19. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the host terminal and the guest terminal share the content downloaded from the content provider server by multicasting in the network group.
