Abstract

Federated search is disclosed. A result associated with a search of a content source not natively configured to provide content type data for content items is received. A content type is associated with a content item included in the result based at least in part on information associated with the result.

Claims

1. A system for managing content comprising:

an interface to;

receive a result associated with a search of a content source not natively configured to provide content type data for content items; and

a processor to;

associate a content type with a content item included in the result based at least in part on an information associated with the result.

2. A system as in claim 1, wherein the content source comprises an internal repository.

3. A system as in claim 1, wherein the content source comprises an external repository.

4. A system as in claim 1, wherein the content source comprises a resource.

5. A system as in claim 4, wherein the resource comprises an information source.

6. A system as in claim 4, wherein the resource comprises a search source.

7. A system as in claim 1, wherein the content source is accessed using an enterprise content integration server.

8. A system as in claim 1, wherein the content source is accessed using a configuration adapter connected to an enterprise content integration server.

9. A system as in claim 8, wherein the configuration adapter configuration is based on a preconfigured template.

10. A system as in claim 8, wherein the configuration adapter configuration has a self learning engine in order to self-configure based at least in part on an external repository type.

11. A system as in claim 8, wherein the configuration adapter configuration has a self learning engine in order to self-configure based at least in part on an external resource type.

12. A system as in claim 1, wherein the content source is accessed using more than one configuration adapter connected to a specific repository or resource.

13. A system as in claim 1, wherein the interface is further configured to split a query for an internal repository and an external repository.

14. A system as in claim 13, wherein a first result from the internal repository and a second result from the external repository are combined.

15. A system as in claim 14, wherein the first result and the second result are presented as typed information.

16. A system as in claim 14, wherein the second result is associated with type information based on metadata retrieved from the external repository.

17. A method for managing content comprising:

receiving a result associated with a search of a content source not natively configured to provide content type data for content items; and

associating, using a processor, a content type with a content item included in the result based at least in part on an information associated with the result.

18. A computer program product for managing content, the computer program product being embodied in a non-transitory computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:

receiving a result associated with a search of a content source not natively configured to provide content type data for content items; and

associating a content type with a content item included in the result based at least in part on an information associated with the result.
