A mesh network device (100, 200, 330, 340, 400, 740) comprising a memory (240, 440), an interface (230, 430) and a controller (210, 410) for use in a mesh network comprising at least one second mesh network device (740c) and at least one another or alternative mesh network device (740d), wherein said mesh network device (100, 200, 330, 340, 400, 740) is configured to be connected to said second mesh network device (740c) through a connection (350, 750), wherein said controller (210, 410) is configured to:
- receive a communication from a second mesh network device (740c) or another or alternative mesh network device (740d) through said interface (230, 430);
monitor a signal strength that said communication was received at; and
determine whether said connection (350, 750) is to be replaced based on said monitored signal strength and, if so, cause said connection (350, 750) to be replaced.

Abstract
A network device comprising a memory, an interface and a controller for use in a mesh network comprising at least one second network device and at least one another or alternative network device. The network device is configured to be connected to said second network device. The controller of the network device is configured to receive a communication from a second network device or another or alternative network device through said interface and to monitor a signal strength that said communication was received at. The network device is configured to determine whether said connection is to be replaced based on said monitored signal strength and, if so, cause said connection to be replaced.
