Abstract

A method for receiving a radio resource control (RRC) message by a user equipment (UE) is described. The method includes receiving an RRC connection reconfiguration message including mobility control information. In response to receiving the RRC connection reconfiguration message including mobility control information, a medium access control (MAC) entity of a secondary cell group (SCG) is released if any MAC entity of the SCG is established. In response to receiving the RRC connection reconfiguration message including mobility control information, a MAC entity of a master cell group (MCG) is reset.

Claims

1. A method for receiving a radio resource control (RRC) message by a user equipment (UE), comprising:

receiving an RRC connection reconfiguration message including mobility control information; and

in response to receiving the RRC connection reconfiguration message including mobility control information;

releasing a medium access control (MAC) entity of a secondary cell group (SCG) if any MAC entity of the SCG is established; and

resetting a MAC entity of a master cell group (MCG).

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising re-establishing radio link control (RLC) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the MCG.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising releasing radio link control (RLC) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the SCG, if any RLC entity of the SCG is established.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising re-establishing packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the MCG.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising releasing packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the SCG, if any PDCP entity of the SCG is established.

6. A user equipment (UE) for receiving a radio resource control (RRC) message, comprising:

a processor; and

memory in electronic communication with the processor, wherein instructions stored in the memory are executable to;

receive an RRC connection reconfiguration message including mobility control information; and

in response to receiving the RRC connection reconfiguration message including mobility control information;

release a medium access control (MAC) entity of a secondary cell group (SCG) if any MAC entity of the SCG is established; and

reset a MAC entity of a master cell group (MCG).

7. The UE of claim 6, wherein the instructions are further executable to re-establish radio link control (RLC) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the MCG.

8. The UE of claim 6, wherein the instructions are further executable to release radio link control (RLC) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the SCG, if any RLC entity of the SCG is established.

9. The UE of claim 6, wherein the instructions are further executable to re-establish packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the MCG.

10. The UE of claim 6, wherein the instructions are further executable to release packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the SCG, if any PDCP entity of the SCG is established.

11. A non-transitory, tangible computer-readable medium for receiving radio resource control (RRC) message by a user equipment (UE), comprising executable instructions for:

receiving an RRC connection reconfiguration message including mobility control information; and

in response to receiving the RRC connection reconfiguration message including mobility control information;

releasing a medium access control (MAC) entity of a secondary cell group (SCG) if any MAC entity of the SCG is established; and

resetting a MAC entity of a master cell group (MCG).

12. The computer-readable medium of claim 11, wherein the computer-readable medium further comprises executable instructions for re-establishing radio link control (RLC) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the MCG.

13. The computer-readable medium of claim 11, wherein the computer-readable medium further comprises executable instructions for releasing radio link control (RLC) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the SCG, if any RLC entity of the SCG is established.

14. The computer-readable medium of claim 11, wherein the computer-readable medium further comprises executable instructions for re-establishing packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the MCG.

15. The computer-readable medium of claim 11, wherein the computer-readable medium further comprises executable instructions for releasing packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entities for all radio bearers (RBs) that are established for the SCG, if any PDCP entity of the SCG is established.
