Abstract

An apparatus for setting up a specialized personal electronic assistant on an electronic device includes a processor, a display, a language module, a tracking module, a knowledge module, and a rendering module. The language module interprets a communication from a user into a data request. The tracking module stores the data request as one of a plurality of stored data requests. The knowledge module determines a response to the data request. The rendering module displays the response in a tiled area on an image display of the electronic device.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a processor;

a display operatively coupled to the processor;

a language module that interprets a communication from a user into a data request;

a tracking module that stores the data request as one of a plurality of stored data requests;

a knowledge module that determines a response to the data request; and

a rendering module that displays the response in a tiled area on the display.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the tracking module stores the data request as one of a plurality of stored data requests for a predetermined period of time.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the knowledge module that determines the response to the data request searches one or more data sources for the requested data.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising the knowledge module determining an updated response to the data request.

5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the knowledge module that determines the updated response to the data request sets a schedule for searching one or more data sources for the requested data.

6. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the rendering module displays the updated response in the tiled area on the display.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a context module that compares the data request to the plurality of stored data requests to determine whether the data request is related to a stored data request, and wherein

the knowledge module determines the response to the data request in the context of the stored data request;

and

the rendering module updates an existing tile containing an existing response corresponding to the stored data request with the response to the data request in response to the context module determining that the data request is related to the stored data request.

8. A method comprising:

interpreting, by use of a processor, a communication from a user into a data request;

storing the data request as one of a plurality of stored data requests;

determining a response to the data request; and

displaying the response in a tiled area on an image display of an electronic device.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising storing the data request as one of a plurality of stored data requests for a predetermined period of time.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein determining a response to the data request comprises searching one or more data sources for the requested data.

11. The method of claim 8, further comprising determining an updated response to the data request.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein determining an updated response to the data request comprises setting a schedule for searching one or more data sources for the requested data.

13. The method of claim 11, further comprising displaying the updated response in the tiled area on the image display of the electronic device.

14. The method of claim 8, wherein the method further comprises comparing the data request to the plurality of stored data requests to determine whether the data request is related to a stored data request, wherein

determining the response to the data request further comprises determining the response to the data request in the context of the stored data request;

and

displaying the response in a tiled area on an image display of an electronic device further comprises updating an existing tile containing an existing response corresponding to the stored data request with the response to the data request in response to determining that the data request is related to the stored data request.

15. A program product comprising a computer readable storage medium storing code executable by a processor to perform:

interpreting a communication from a user into a data request;

storing the data request as one of a plurality of stored data requests;

determining a response to the data request; and

displaying the response in a tiled area on an image display of an electronic device.

16. The program product of claim 15, wherein the code further performs storing the data request as one of a plurality of stored data requests for a predetermined period of time.

17. The program product of claim 15, wherein the code further performs determining an updated response to the data request.

18. The program product of claim 17, wherein determining an updated response to the data request comprises setting a schedule for searching one or more data sources for the requested data.

19. The program product of claim 17, wherein the code further performs displaying the updated response in the tiled area on the image display of the electronic device.

20. The program product of claim 15, wherein the code further performs comparing the data request to the plurality of stored data requests to determine whether the data request is related to a stored data request, wherein

determining the response to the data request further comprises determining the response to the data request in the context of the stored data request;

and

displaying the response in a tiled area on an image display of an electronic device further comprises updating an existing tile containing an existing response corresponding to the stored data request with the response to the data request in response to determining that the data request is related to the stored data request.
