Abstract

Methods, systems and programming for delivering web page content using edge server. In one example, a request is received from a user for a page including at least a piece of generic content and a plurality pieces of customized content. The request is forwarded from the user to a content server over the network. The piece of generic content and a first type of instruction are sent to the user. The piece of generic content and the first type of instruction are received from the content server as a response to the forwarded request. Each of the plurality pieces of customized content is sent to the user upon receiving a respective piece of customize content from the content server. The plurality pieces of customized content are to be assembled on the page in accordance with the first type of instruction.

Claims

1. A method, implemented on at least one machine each of which has at least one processor, storage, and a communication platform connected to a network for content delivery, the method comprising the steps of:

receiving a request from a user for a page including at least a piece of generic content and a plurality pieces of customized content;

forwarding the request from the user to a content server over the network;

sending the piece of generic content with a first type of instruction to the user, wherein the piece of generic content the first type of instruction are received from the content server as a response to the forwarded request; and

sending each of the plurality pieces of customized content to the user upon receiving a respective piece of customize content from the content server, wherein the plurality pieces of customized content are to be assembled on the page in accordance with the first type of instruction.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

caching the piece of generic content received from the content server.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein each piece of the plurality pieces of customized content is associated with a respective piece of generic content in accordance with a second type of instruction received from the content server.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein one piece of the plurality pieces of customized content is replaced with a corresponding piece of generic content when the piece of customized content is unavailable.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality pieces of customized content is sent to the user independently in a streamline.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein

the generic content is sent to the user with a template of the page received from the content server;

and

the plurality pieces of customized content are assembled on the page based on the template.

7. A method, implemented on at least one machine each of which has at least one processor, storage, and a communication platform connected to a network for content delivery, the method comprising the steps of:

receiving, over the network, a request from an edge server for a page including at least a piece of generic content and a plurality pieces of customized content;

obtaining the piece of generic content;

sending the piece of generic content with a first type of instruction to the edge server;

obtaining the plurality pieces of customized content; and

sending each of the plurality pieces of customized content to the edge server upon obtaining a respective piece of customized content, wherein the plurality pieces of customized content are to be assembled on the page in accordance with the first type of instruction.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein each piece of the plurality pieces of customized content is associated with a respective piece of generic content cached by the edge server in accordance with a second type of instruction sent to the edge server.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein one piece of the plurality pieces of customized content is replaced with a corresponding piece of generic content when the piece of customized content is unavailable.

10. The method of claim 7, wherein each of the plurality pieces of customized content is sent to the edge server independently in a streamline.

11. The method of claim 7, wherein

the generic content is sent to the edge server with a template of the page;

and

the plurality pieces of customized content are assembled on the page based on the template.

12. A system having at least one processor, a storage, and a communication platform for content delivery, the system comprising:

a control unit implemented on the at least one processor and configured to receive a request from a user for a page including at least a piece of generic content and a plurality pieces of customized content;

a content requesting unit implemented on the at least one processor and configured to forward the request from the user to a content server over the network; and

a content delivering unit implemented on the at least one processor and configured to;

send the piece of generic content with a first type of instruction to the user, wherein the piece of generic content and the first type of instruction are received from the content server as a response to the forwarded request, and

send each of the plurality pieces of customized content to the user upon receiving a respective piece of customize content from the content server, wherein the plurality pieces of customized content are to be assembled on the page in accordance with the first type of instruction.

13. The system of claim 12, further comprising a caching unit configured to cache the piece of generic content received from the content server.

14. The system of claim 12, wherein each piece of the plurality pieces of customized content is associated with a respective piece of generic content in accordance with a second type of instruction received from the content server.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein one piece of the plurality pieces of customized content is replaced with a corresponding piece of generic content when the piece of customized content is unavailable.

16. The system of claim 12, wherein each of the plurality pieces of customized content is sent to the user independently in a streamline.

17. The system of claim 12, wherein

the generic content is sent the user with a template of the page received from the content server;

and

the plurality pieces of customized content are assembled on the page based on the template.

18. A non-transitory machine-readable medium having information recorded thereon for content delivery, wherein the information, when read by the machine, causes the machine to perform the following:

receiving a request from a user for a page including at least a piece of generic content and a plurality pieces of customized content;

forwarding the request from the user to a content server over the network;

sending the piece of generic content with a first type of instruction to the user, wherein the piece of generic content and the first type of instruction are received from the content server as a response to the forwarded request; and

sending each of the plurality pieces of customized content to the user upon receiving a respective piece of customize content from the content server, wherein the plurality pieces of customized content are to be assembled on the page in accordance with the first type of instruction.

19. The medium of claim 18, wherein

each piece of the plurality pieces of customized content is associated with a respective piece of generic content in accordance with a second type of instruction received from the content server;

and

one piece of the plurality pieces of customized content is replaced with a corresponding piece of generic content when the piece of customized content is unavailable.

20. The medium of claim 18, wherein each of the plurality pieces of customized content is sent to the user independently in a streamline.
