Abstract

In an electrophotographic photosensitive member, a first intermediate layer contains a polymerized product of a composition including an electron transporting substance having a polymerizable functional group, and a crosslinking agent, and a second intermediate layer contains a binder resin and a metal oxide particle.

Claims

1. An electrophotographic photosensitive member comprising:

a support;

a first intermediate layer formed directly on the support;

a second intermediate layer formed on the first intermediate layer;

a charge generating layer formed on the second intermediate layer; and

a hole transporting layer formed on the charge generating layer;

wherein

the first intermediate layer comprises a polymerized product of a composition comprising;

an electron transporting substance having a polymerizable functional group; and

a crosslinking agent; and

the second intermediate layer comprises a binder resin and a metal oxide particle.

2. The electrophotographic photosensitive member according to claim 1, wherein a content of the electron transporting substance in the composition of the first intermediate layer is 30% by mass or more based on the total mass of the composition.

3. The electrophotographic photosensitive member according to claim 1, wherein a content of the metal oxide particle in the second intermediate layer is 50% by mass or more and 75% by mass or less based on the total mass of the second intermediate layer.

The electrophotographic photosensitive member according to claim 1, wherein the content (% by mass) of the electron transporting substance in the composition of the first intermediate layer is 0.4 times or more the content (% by mass) of the metal oxide particle based on the total mass of the second intermediate layer.

5. The electrophotographic photosensitive member according to claim 1, wherein the polymerizable functional group of the electron transporting substance is a hydroxy group, a thiol group, an amino group, a carboxyl group or a methoxy group.

6. The electrophotographic photosensitive member according to claim 1, wherein the crosslinking agent is

an isocyanate compound having an isocyanate group or a block isocyanate group, or

an amine compound having an N-methylol group or an alkyletherified N-methylol group.

7. The electrophotographic photosensitive member according to claim 1, wherein the composition in the first intermediate layer further comprises a resin having a polymerizable functional group.

8. The electrophotographic photosensitive member according to claim 7, wherein the polymerizable functional group of the resin is a hydroxy group, a thiol group, an amino group, a carboxyl group or a methoxy group.

9. The electrophotographic photosensitive member according to claim 1, wherein the first intermediate layer further comprises a silica particle.

10. A process cartridge integrally supporting the electrophotographic photosensitive member according to claim 1 and at least one unit selected from the group consisting of a charging unit, a developing unit and a cleaning unit, the process cartridge being attachable to and detachable from a main body of an electrophotographic apparatus.

11. An electrophotographic apparatus comprising the electrophotographic photosensitive member according to claim 1, an exposing unit, a charging unit, a developing unit and a transfer unit.
