Abstract

Systems and methods for managing a network are disclosed. One method can comprise transmitting a first identifier associated with a first service. Access to the first service can be provided to a user device using the first identifier. A filter element associated with the user device can be received. Transmission of a second identifier associated with a second service can be filtered based on the filter element, wherein filtering transmission inhibits access of the user device to the second service.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

transmitting a first identifier associated with a first service;

providing, to a user device, access to the first service using the first identifier;

receiving a filter element associated with the user device; and

filtering transmission of a second identifier associated with a second service based on the filter element, wherein filtering transmission inhibits access of the user device to the second service.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first service is a private network service.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the second service is a public network service.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein each of the first identifier and the second identifier comprises a respective service set identifier.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the filter element comprises a filter list template.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein filtering transmission of the second identifier is dependent upon the user device.

7. A method comprising:

providing access to a first network;

providing access to a second network;

receiving an identifier associated with a user device; and

filtering access by the user device to one or more of the first network and the second network using the identifier.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the first network is a public network.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the second network is a private network.

10. The method of claim 7, wherein the identifier comprises one or more of a user identifier and a MAC address.

11. The method of claim 7, wherein the identifier comprises a filter list template.

12. The method of claim 7, wherein filtering access comprises filtering transmission of a network identifier associated with the one or more of the first network and the second network.

13. The method of claim 7, wherein filtering access of the user device is dependent upon a location of the user device.

14. A method comprising:

receiving an access request from a user device, wherein the user device is associated with an identifier;

receiving a filter element relating to the identifier; and

filtering access by the user device to a network using the filter element.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the network is a public network.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein the access request relates to coupling the user device to one or more networks.

17. The method of claim 14, wherein the identifier comprises one or more of a user identifier and a MAC address.

18. The method of claim 14, wherein the filter element comprises a filter list template.

19. The method of claim 14, wherein filtering access comprises filtering transmission of a network identifier.

20. The method of claim 14, wherein filtering access of the user device is dependent upon a location of the user device.
