- establishing an initial resistive force on a contrast fluid in a contrast delivery modulation component comprising a contrast fluid inlet port, a contrast fluid outlet port, and a variable resistive force chamber capable of imparting a variable resistive force upon the contrast fluid to an injection catheter in a patient through the contrast fluid outlet port;
injecting the contrast fluid into the patient with an injection syringe fluidly connected to the injection catheter and the contrast fluid inlet port of the contrast delivery modulation component;
using a contrast delivery measurement component at least partially integrated with the injection syringe to assess at least one of a total volume of the contrast fluid injected into the patient and a maximum intended volume of contrast fluid; and
altering a resistive force imparted upon the contrast fluid in the chamber of the contrast delivery modulation component.

A method includes establishing an initial resistive force on a contrast fluid in a contrast delivery modulation component and injecting the contrast fluid into the patient with an injection syringe fluidly connected to the injection catheter and the contrast fluid inlet port of the contrast delivery modulation component. A contrast delivery measurement component is used to assess a total volume of the contrast fluid injected into the patient and a resistive force imparted upon the contrast fluid in the chamber.

6. A system for the modulation of the fluid characteristics of a fluid medium to a delivery site within a body, the system comprising:

a delivery catheter having a lumen and capable of delivering a medium from outside the body to the delivery site within the body; a syringe capable of being actuated to provide fluid medium to the delivery catheter, wherein the syringe comprises a light sensor module; and a modulator disposed between the syringe and the delivery catheter, wherein the modulator is configured to limit a pressure of fluid medium provided to the delivery catheter to a pre-determined maximum pressure value during actuation of the syringe. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9)

10. A system for the modulation of pressure of a fluid medium, the system comprising:

an injector for injecting the medium, wherein the injector comprises a light sensor module; a delivery catheter for delivering the medium from outside a body to a delivery site within the body; and a modulator disposed between the injector and the delivery catheter, the modulator comprising; a medium chamber in fluid communication with the injector and the delivery catheter, wherein the medium chamber is configured to receive at least a first portion of the medium when a system pressure is greater than a predetermined value and to discharge a second portion of the medium when the system pressure is less than the predetermined value, and wherein the chamber includes a surface therein that imparts a constant pressure force on the medium within the medium chamber. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
