Abstract

The disclosed embodiments include methods and systems for providing a discount or reward at the point of sale. In one embodiment a system for providing a discount at the point of sale is disclosed. The system may be configured to receive transaction data relating to one or more purchase transactions and determine discount eligibility of the one or more purchase transactions. The system may also be configured to determine a discount amount based on the determined discount eligibility and the transaction data and apply the discount to the one or more purchase transactions. Further, the system may also be configured to display the applied discount to the user.

Claims

1. A system for providing a discount at the point of sale, comprising:

one or more memory devices storing instructions;

one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to;

receive transaction data relating to one or more purchase transactions initiated by a user;

determine discount eligibility of the one or more purchase transactions;

determine a discount amount based on the determined discount eligibility and the transaction data;

authorize payment at the point of sale for a purchase price indicated in the received transaction data;

assess the purchase price less the discount amount to an account associated with the user used at the point of sale; and

display the applied discount to the user.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the transaction data comprises at least a sale amount and a user identifier.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further instructions comprising:

identifying at least one risk profile associated with the user identifier; and

determining the discount eligibility based on the at least one risk profile.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the discount eligibility indicates whether at least one of a user or purchase item associated with the one or more purchase transactions is eligible for a discount.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the discount is based on at least one of a risk profile of the user or the purchase price of the purchase item.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further instructions comprising:

identifying a rewards points total associated with the one or more purchase transactions; and

determining the discount amount based on a cash value associated with the rewards points total.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more processors is further configured to display the applied discount to the user as a line-item deduction.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein the line-item deduction may be displayed in a computerized financial statement.

9. The system of claim 7, wherein the line-item deduction may be displayed on a sales receipt.

10. A computer-implemented method for providing a discount at he point of sale comprising:

receiving transaction data relating to one or more purchase transactions;

determining, by one or more processors, discount eligibility of the one or more purchase transactions;

determining, by the one or more processors, a discount amount based on the determined discount eligibility and the transaction data;

authorizing payment at the point of sale for a purchase price indicated in the received transaction data;

assessing the purchase price less the discount amount to an account associated with the user used at the point of sale; and

displaying the applied discount to the user.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the transaction data comprises at least a sale amount and a user identifier.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further instructions comprising:

identifying at least one risk profile associated with the user identifier; and

determining the discount eligibility based on the at least one risk profile.

13. The method of claim 10, wherein the discount eligibility indicates whether at least one of a user or purchase item associated with the one or more purchase transactions is eligible for a discount.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the discount is based on at least one of a risk profile of the user or the purchase price of the purchase item.

15. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

identifying a rewards points total associated with the one or more purchase transactions; and

determining the discount amount based on a cash value associated with the rewards points total.

16. The method of claim 10, wherein the one or more processors is further configured to display the applied discount to the user as a line-item deduction.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the line-item deduction may be displayed in a computerized financial statement.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein the line-item deduction may be displayed on a sales receipt.

19. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving transaction data relating to one or more purchase transactions initiated by a user;

determining discount eligibility of the one or more purchase transactions;

determining a discount amount based on the determined discount eligibility and the transaction data;

authorizing payment at the point of sale for a purchase price indicated in the received transaction data;

assessing the purchase price less the discount amount to an account associated with the user used at the point of sale; and

displaying the applied discount to the user.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to further perform:

identifying at least one risk profile associated with the user identifier; and

determining the discount eligibility based on the at leas one risk profile.
