Abstract

Aspects of the present disclosure include systems and methods for injecting content into a webpage at or local to a network access gateway. For example, in an embodiment, a network access gateway is provided for accessing the internet. A user logs onto the internet through the network access gateway and request a webpage. The gateway requests the webpage from the webpage provider. Before the gateway delivers the webpage to the user, the gateway, or a content injection engine local to the gateway, injects content, such as, for example, advertisements or other useful information, into the webpage and then sends the altered webpage to the user.

Claims

2. A method of tracking location specific usage of a client device in a network based system, the method comprising:

tracking client device communications with a network through a network gateway system;

determining, using the network gateway system, a geographical location of the client device based on a geographical location of the network gateway system; and

determining location specific usage tracking data based on the geographical location of the client device and the client device communications.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising providing an interactive tool configured to provide location specific services to the client device based on the determined geographical location of the client device.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the interactive tool is further configured to provide hotel services.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the interactive tool is further configured to provide location specific services to the client device based on the location specific usage tracking data.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein the interactive tool is further configured to provide location specific services to the client device based on data received from the local service providers.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the location specific services comprises an advertisement based on the geographical location of the client device.

8. The method of claim 4, wherein the location specific usage tracking data comprises data received by the interactive tool.

9. The method of claim 3, wherein the geographical location of the network gateway system comprises a geographical location of a venue.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the venue comprises one of the following:

a coffee shop, an airport, a convention center, a cruise ship, a plane, a stadium, a library, or a school.

11. The method of claim 3, further comprising sending location specific usage tracking data to local service providers.

12. A network gateway system configured to track location specific usage of a client device in a network based system, the network gateway system comprising one or more software modules configured to:

track client device communications with a network;

determine a geographical location of the client device based on a geographical location of the network gateway system; and

determine location specific usage tracking data based on the location of the client device and the client device communications.

13. The network gateway system of claim 12, wherein the one or more software modules are further configured to provide an interactive tool configured to provide location specific services to the client device based on the determined geographical location of the client device.

14. The network gateway system of claim 13, wherein the interactive tool is further configured to provide hotel services.

15. The network gateway system of claim 14, wherein the interactive tool is further configured to provide location specific services to the client device based on the location specific usage tracking data.

16. The network gateway system of claim 14, wherein the interactive tool is further configured to provide location specific services to the client device based on data received from the local service providers.

17. The network gateway system of claim 16, wherein the location specific services comprises an advertisement based on the geographical location of the client device.

18. The network gateway system of claim 14, wherein the location specific usage tracking data comprises data received by the interactive tool.

19. The network gateway system of claim 13, wherein the geographical location of the network gateway system comprises a geographical location of a venue.

20. The network gateway system of claim 19, wherein the venue comprises one of the following:

a coffee shop, an airport, a convention center, a cruise ship, a plane, a stadium, a library, or a school.

21. The method of claim 13, wherein the one or more software modules are further configured to send location specific usage tracking data to local service providers.
