Abstract

An image processing apparatus includes a first communication unit, an image processing unit, and an authentication unit. The first communication unit performs contactless communication using a radio-frequency identification (RFID). The second communication unit performs wireless communication. The image processing unit performs an image processing job. The authentication unit authenticates a user of the image processing apparatus. In a case where the authentication unit authenticates a user, the second communication unit starts the wireless communication with an external apparatus which has been identified by an identification (ID) communicated from the external apparatus. The image processing unit performs the image processing job using the wireless communication between the second communication unit and the external apparatus.

Claims

1. An image processing apparatus comprising:

a first communication unit configured to perform contactless communication using a radio-frequency identification (RFID);

a second communication unit configured to perform wireless communication;

an image processing unit configured to perform an image processing job; and

an authentication unit configured to authenticate a user of the image processing apparatus,

wherein, in a case where the authentication unit authenticates a user, the second communication unit starts the wireless communication with an external apparatus which has been identified by an identification (ID) communicated from the external apparatus, and

wherein the image processing unit performs the image processing job using the wireless communication between the second communication unit and the external apparatus.

2. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the second communication unit terminates the wireless communication with the external apparatus after the image processing unit has completed performance of the image processing job.

The image processing apparatus according to claim 2, wherein, after the image processing unit has completed performance of the image processing job, the second communication unit terminates the wireless communication with the external apparatus based on an instruction by the user of the image processing apparatus.

4. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the image processing unit performs the image processing job by processing image data transmitted from the external apparatus and received via the second communication unit.

5. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the image processing unit performs the image processing job by transmitting image data to the external apparatus via the second communication unit.

6. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the authentication unit authenticates the user of the image processing apparatus based on authentication information received via the first communication unit.

7. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the second communication unit communicates with the external apparatus via a wireless Local Area Network (LAN).

8. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the second communication unit communicates with the external apparatus using Bluetooth.

9. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the image processing apparatus is a multifunction peripheral that includes a scanner and a printer.

10. A method for an image processing apparatus, the method comprising:

performing, via a first communication unit, contactless communication using a radio-frequency identification (RFID);

performing, via a second communication unit, wireless communication;

performing an image processing job; and

authenticating a user of the image processing apparatus,

wherein, in a case where authenticating includes authenticating a user, performing wireless communication includes starting the wireless communication with an external apparatus which has been identified by an identification (ID) communicated from the external apparatus, and

wherein performing the image processing job includes performing the image processing job using the wireless communication between the second communication unit and the external apparatus.

11. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program to cause an image processing apparatus to perform a method, the method comprising:

performing, via a first communication unit, contactless communication using a radio-frequency identification (RFID);

performing, via a second communication unit, wireless communication;

performing an image processing job; and

authenticating a user of the image processing apparatus,

wherein, in a case where authenticating includes authenticating a user, performing wireless communication includes starting the wireless communication with an external apparatus which has been identified by an identification (ID) communicated from the external apparatus, and

wherein performing the image processing job includes performing the image processing job using the wireless communication between the second communication unit and the external apparatus.
