Abstract

A computing device provides a dyslexic enhancement mode. The dyslexic enhancement mode includes multiple dyslexic enhancement features that adjust the text content to facilitate ability of the user with dyslexia to read the text content. Additionally, the computing device provides an interface to enable the user to enter input to select and I specify values for individual dyslexic enhancement features. The computing device can configure implementation of the dyslexic enhancement mode based on the input provided by the user.

Claims

1. A computing device comprising:

memory resources to store an e-book and a set of instructions;

one or more processors that access the memory resources to;

display text content from the e-book;

enable a dyslexic enhancement mode, the dyslexic enhancement mode including multiple dyslexic enhancement features that adjust a text content to facilitate an ability of a user with dyslexia to read the text content;

provide an interface to enable the user to enter input to select and/or specify values for individual dyslexic enhancement features; and

configure implementation of the dyslexic enhancement mode based on the input provided by the user.

2. The computing device of claim 1, wherein the one or more processors operate to:

provide the interface that displays the multiple dyslexic enhancement features as independent selectable options prior to implementing the dyslexic enhancement mode;

receive input identifying a selection of the options;

configure implementation of the dyslexic enhancement mode based on the selection of the options.

3. The computing device of claim 1, wherein the one or more processors operate to:

implement the dyslexic enhancement mode with the multiple dyslexic enhancement features as default;

provide the interface that displays the multiple dyslexic enhancement features as independent selectable options once the dyslexic enhancement mode is implemented; and

configure implementation of the dyslexic enhancement mode based on one or more dyslexic enhancement features that the user has unselected.

4. The computing device of claim 1, wherein the interface displays an option to display text on a grey and non-white background.

5. The computing device of claim 1, wherein the interface displays an option to widen spacing between at least one of characters or words.

6. The computing device of claim 5, wherein the option to widen spacing enables the user to select one of multiple possible values to increase spacing as compared to a default setting.

7. The computing device of claim 1, wherein the interface displays an option to enlarge characters of the text content or reduce a number of words that appear in a line of the text content.

8. The computing device of claim 1, wherein the interface displays an option to reduce a number of sentences that start near an edge of a line.

9. The computing device of claim 1, wherein the interface displays an option to select a sans serif font type.

10. The computing device of claim 1, wherein the interface displays an option to eliminate or reduce words that appear in all capitalization or italics.

11. The computing device of claim 1, wherein the interface displays an option to display the text content in bold format.

12. A non-transitory computer-readable medium that stores a set of instructions, the set of instructions being executable by one or more processors to perform operations that include:

display a text content from an e-book;

enable a dyslexic enhancement mode, the dyslexic enhancement mode including multiple dyslexic enhancement features that adjust the text content to facilitate an ability of a user with dyslexia to read the text content;

provide an interface to enable the user to enter input to select and/or specify values for individual dyslexic enhancement features; and

configure implementation of the dyslexic enhancement mode based on the input provided by the user.

13. The computer-readable medium of claim 12, further comprising instructions to perform operations that include:

provide the interface that displays the multiple dyslexic enhancement features as independent selectable options prior to implementing the dyslexic enhancement mode;

receive input identifying a selection of the options;

configure implementation of the dyslexic enhancement mode based on the selection of the options.

14. The computer-readable medium of claim 12, further comprising instructions to perform operations that include:

implement the dyslexic enhancement mode with the multiple dyslexic enhancement features as default;

provide the interface that displays the multiple dyslexic enhancement features as independent selectable options once the dyslexic enhancement mode is implemented; and

configure implementation of the dyslexic enhancement mode based on one or more dyslexic enhancement features that the user has unselected.

15. The computer-readable medium of claim 12, wherein the interface displays an option to display text on a grey and non-white background.

16. The computer-readable medium of claim 12, wherein the interface displays an option to widen spacing between at least one of characters or words.

20. A method for operating a computing device, the method being implemented by one or more processors:

displaying a text content from an e-book;

enabling a dyslexic enhancement mode, the dyslexic enhancement mode including multiple dyslexic enhancement features that adjust the text content to facilitate an ability of a user with dyslexia to read the text content;

providing an interface to enable the user to enter input to select and/or specify values for individual dyslexic enhancement features; and

configuring implementation of the dyslexic enhancement mode based on the input provided by the user.
