Abstract

A method of operating an electronic device and the electronic device is provided. The method includes setting a fingerprint detecting area functionally connected to a display; identifying a function corresponding to a gesture of an input means input to the display, and determining whether to perform the function with fingerprint information acquired in the fingerprint detecting area. The electronic device includes a display configured to display at least one content; a memory configured to store at least one fingerprint information acquired in a fingerprint detecting area; the fingerprint detecting area functionally connected to the display; and at least one processor configured to set the fingerprint detecting area, identify a function corresponding to a gesture of an input means input to the display, and determine whether to perform the function with the at least one fingerprint information acquired in the fingerprint detecting area.

Claims

1. A method of operating an electronic device, the method comprising:

setting a fingerprint detecting area functionally connected to a display;

identifying a function corresponding to a gesture of an input means input to the display; and

determining whether to perform the function with fingerprint information acquired in the fingerprint detecting area.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the gesture comprises entering or overlapping at least a portion of a contact area of the display and the input means with the fingerprint detecting area or crossing at least a portion of the contact area with the fingerprint detecting area.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the gesture is performed by selecting contents of the display and dragging while maintaining contact with the display.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the function comprises changing a first security attribute of contents selected by the gesture to a second security attribute of an area in which the drag is terminated.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the function comprises setting or releasing a security attribute designated to contents selected to correspond to the gesture.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the designated security attribute is set or released with the acquired fingerprint information.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the gesture comprises copying contents displayed in a first area and displaying the contents in a second area.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the function comprises including at least one of a security attribute, user information, and designated fingerprint information of the first area in the contents.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the function comprises setting the contents displayed in the second area to an attribute of the second area.

10. The method of claim 7, wherein the function is performed when the acquired fingerprint information corresponds with an authentication means of a security attribute set to the second area.

11. An electronic device, comprising:

a display configured to display at least one content;

a memory configured to store at least one fingerprint information acquired in a fingerprint detecting area;

the fingerprint detecting area functionally connected to the display; and

at least one processor configured to set the fingerprint detecting area, identify a function corresponding to a gesture of an input means input to the display, and determine whether to perform the function with the at least one fingerprint information acquired in the fingerprint detecting area.

The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to acquire the at least one fingerprint information of the input means when at least a portion of a contact area of the display and the input means enters or overlaps with a designated area of the fingerprint detecting area or when at least a portion of the contact area crosses the fingerprint detecting area.

13. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to detect a gesture for selecting contents of the display and dragging while maintaining contact with the display.

14. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to change a first security attribute of contents selected by the gesture to a second security attribute of an area in which the dragging is terminated.

15. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to set or release a security attribute designated to the at least one content to correspond to the gesture.

16. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to set or release the designated security attribute with the acquired at least one fingerprint information.

17. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to detect a gesture for copying the at least one content displayed in a first area and to display the at least one content in a second area.

18. The electronic device of claim 17, wherein the at least one processor comprises at least one of a security attribute, user information, and designated fingerprint information of the first area in the at least one content.

19. The electronic device of claim 17, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to set an attribute of the second area to the at least one content displayed in the second area.

20. The electronic device of claim 17, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to perform the function when the acquired at least one fingerprint information corresponds with an authentication means of a security attribute set to the second area.
