Abstract
This disclosure describes systems and methods for monitoring and evaluating ventilatory data to provide useful notifications and/or recommendations. Indeed, many clinicians may not easily identify or recognize data patterns and correlations indicative of certain patient conditions or the effectiveness of ventilatory treatment. Further, clinicians may not readily determine appropriate adjustments that may address certain patient conditions or the effectiveness of ventilatory treatment. Specifically, clinicians may not readily detect or recognize the occurrence of high-delivered VT during various types of ventilation. According to embodiments, a ventilator may be configured to monitor and evaluate diverse ventilatory parameters to detect an occurrence of and potential causes for high-delivered VT and may subsequently issue suitable notifications and/or recommendations. The suitable notifications and/or recommendations may further be provided in a hierarchical format such that the clinician may selectively access information regarding the high-delivered VT and/or potential causes for the high-delivered VT.

21. A ventilator-implemented method for detecting high-delivered tidal volume (VT), the method comprising:

receiving a setting for a threshold VT; determining a tidal volume delivered to a patient (delivered VT); detecting high-delivered VT upon determining that the delivered VT is greater than the threshold VT; identifying one or more potential causes for the high-delivered VT comprising one or more of; detecting an increase in compliance concurrently with the high-delivered VT; detecting a decrease in resistance concurrently with the high-delivered VT; and detecting an increase in patient inspiratory effort concurrently with the high-delivered VT; and displaying a prompt when high-delivered VT is detected. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25, 26)
