Abstract

The present invention relates to an electroluminescence device having high luminous efficiency (for example, external quantum efficiency) and high durability and causing little chromaticity shift after device deterioration. The present invention also relates to an organic electroluminescence device material comprising a substrate having thereon a pair of electrode and at least one organic layer between the electrodes, the organic layer containing a light emitting layer, wherein the light emitting layer contains a metal complex having a group represented by formula (I).

Claims

1. An organic electroluminescence device comprising, on a substrate:

a pair of electrodes; and

at least one organic layer between said electrodes, the organic layer containing a light emitting layer,

wherein the light emitting layer contains as a light emitting material a metal complex having a group represented by the following formula (I);

2. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1, wherein in formula (I), n_s represents an integer of 1 to 3.

3. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1, wherein in formula (I), n_s is 1.

4. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1, wherein in formula (I), each of R₂ and R₃ represents a hydrogen atom.

5. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1, wherein in formula (I), Z represents a cyclopentyl group or a cyclohexyl group.

6. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the metal complex having a group represented by formula (I) is a metal complex represented by the following formula (1):

7. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 6, wherein the metal complex represented by formula (1) is a metal complex represented by the following formula (2):

8. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 7, wherein the metal complex represented by formula (2) is represented by the following formula (4):

9. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 8, wherein the metal complex represented by formula (4) is represented by the following formula (5):

10. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 7, wherein the metal complex represented by formula (2) is represented by the following formula (7):

11. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 7, wherein the metal complex represented by formula (2) is represented by the following formula (9):

12. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 7, wherein the metal complex represented by formula (2) is represented by the following formula (12):

13. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 6, wherein the metal complex represented by formula (1) is a metal complex represented by the following formula (13):

The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the metal complex having a group represented by formula (I) is a phosphorescent metal complex containing a monoanionic bidentate ligand represented by the following formulae (A1) to (A4) and a metal having an atomic weight of 40 or more:

20. The organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the metal complex having a group represented by formula (I) is contained in the light emitting layer.

23. A composition comprising a metal complex having a group represented by formula (I) in claim 1.

24. A light emitting layer comprising a metal complex having a group represented by formula (I) in claim 1.

25. A light emission apparatus using the organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1.

26. A display apparatus using the organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1.

27. An illumination apparatus using the organic electroluminescence device as claimed in claim 1.
