Abstract

The present disclosure provides high bulk tissue products, as well as an apparatus and methods for manufacturing the same. The tissue products provided herein not only have high bulk, but they also have improved surface smoothness, particularly compared to tissue products of similar basis weights.

Claims

1. A single-ply tissue web having a sheet bulk greater than about 15 cc/g and a Surface Smoothness S90 value less than about 105 μ

m.

2. The single-ply tissue web of claim 1 having a Stiffness Index from about 4 to about 8.

3. The single-ply tissue web of claim 1 having a geometric mean slope less than about 10,000 grams per 76.2 mm sample width.

4. The single-ply tissue web of claim 1 having a geometric mean stretch greater than about 10 percent.

5. The single-ply tissue web of claim 1 having a basis weight from about 35 to about 50 gsm and a GMT from about 700 to about 1400 grams per 76.2 mm sample width.

6. The single-ply tissue web of claim 1 having a Surface Smoothness Sa value less than about 25 μ

m and a Surface Smoothness Sq value less than about 40 μ

m.

7. The single-ply tissue web of claim 1 wherein the single-ply tissue web comprises a through-air dried web.

8. The single-ply tissue web of claim 1 wherein the single-ply tissue web comprises an uncreped through-air dried web.

9. A multi-ply tissue product having a caliper greater than about 600 μ

m and a Surface Smoothness S90 value less than about 95 μ

m.

10. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 9 having a Stiffness Index from about 4 to about 8.

11. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 9 having a geometric mean slope less than about 10,000 grams per 76.2 mm sample width.

12. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 9 having a geometric mean stretch greater than about 10 percent.

13. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 9 having a basis weight from about 35 to about 45 gsm and a GMT from about 700 to about 1400 grams per 76.2 mm sample width.

14. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 9 having a Surface Smoothness Sa value less than about 25 μ

m and a Surface Smoothness Sq value less than about 40 μ

m.

15. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 9 wherein at least one ply comprises a through-air dried web.

16. The multi-ply tissue product of claim 9 wherein at least one ply comprises an uncreped through-air dried web.

17. A single ply tissue having a sheet bulk greater than about 15 cc/g, a geometric mean stretch from about 14 to about 18 percent, a geometric mean slope from about 4,000 to about 8,000 grams per 76.2 mm sample width and geometric mean tensile from about 800 to about 1,200 grams per 76.2 mm sample width.

18. The single ply tissue product of claim 17 having a CD Stretch greater than about 10 percent.

19. The single ply tissue product of claim 17 having a basis weight from about 35 to about 45 grams per square meter.

20. The single ply tissue product of claim 17 having a Surface Smoothness S90 value from about 70 to about 95 μ

m.
