Abstract

A computerized system and method for automatic assembly of a customized hypnotic or therapeutic media file is disclosed. An application collects information from a user, such as a goal to be met or a challenge to be overcome. The application may collect an audio snippet from the user and/or allow the user to record an audio snippet for insertion into the media file. The application may select components of the media file based on user inputs to indirect or direct questions. The application will generate the media file from pre-recorded and user-supplied components into a media file based, at least in part, on a time length supplied by the user. The application may be able to further adjust playback of the media file in real time so as to shorten or lengthen the file from a previously recorded playback length, while still maintaining internal cohesion and certain key message components.

Claims

1. A method of compiling a personalized electronic media file, comprising the steps of:

receiving to a processor a first user input defining a time length;

receiving to the processor a second user input defining a goal;

receiving to the processor a third user input defining a user snippet;

the processor selecting a collection of pre-recorded snippets from among a plurality of pre-recorded snippets;

the processor arranging the user snippet together with snippets from the collection of pre-recorded snippets to generate the personalized electronic media file;

wherein the personalized electronic media file is directed toward achievement of the goal and has a total play time that is within one minute of the time length.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the third user input is received to the processor as a text string that is converted into the user snippet by the processor.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the third user input is received to the processor as a recorded audio file of words spoken by a user.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the recorded audio file is converted into the user snippet by the processor, and wherein the user snippet is a second audio file comprising the same words as the recorded audio file, but spoken by a voice other than that the voice of the user.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising recording a reminder from a user using a digital recording device in communication with the processor.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the personalized electronic media file comprises an introduction, a message portion, and a reorientation portion.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of conducting indirect style analysis for use in selecting the collection of pre-recorded snippets.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of receiving to the processor a narrator voice selection.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of receiving to the processor a favorite selection identifying at least one favorite snippet to be included in the script.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the collection of pre-recorded snippets comprises music snippets and message snippets, and wherein the processor arranges the snippets such that during playback of at least a portion of the personalized electronic media file, a music snippet and a message snippet play simultaneously.

11. A method of electronically modifying a pre-recorded hypnotic script, comprising the steps of:

receiving to a processor a first user input defining a selection of a pre-recorded hypnotic script, wherein the pre-recorded hypnotic script is comprised of a plurality of snippets that collectively have a first total play time;

receiving to the processor a second user input defining a second total play time different than the first total play time;

the processor removing from the pre-recorded hypnotic script at least one of the plurality of snippets and inserting into the pre-recorded hypnotic script at least one snippet not previously in the plurality of snippets, such that the pre-recorded hypnotic script has a total play time closer to the second total play time than the first total play time.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the pre-recorded hypnotic script has an introduction, a message portion, and a reorientation portion.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the message portion contains at least one user snippet.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the at least one user snippet remains unchanged by the step of the processor removing and inserting snippets.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising the step of, during playback of the pre-recorded hypnotic script by the processor, receiving a request to rapidly end playback and, in response thereto, skipping to playback of the reorientation portion.

16. A self sedation and suggestion system comprising:

an input component for receiving text or voice inputs from a user;

an output component capable of producing auditory output to the user;

a processor in connection with the input and output components; and

a memory in connection with the processor;

a script generation engine stored in the memory and directing the processor to generate a script comprised of a collection of snippets selected from a plurality of pre-recorded snippets; and

a style analysis module for determining a preferred style of the user based on an analysis of user responses;

wherein the script generation engine uses the preferred style determined by the style analysis module to select the collection of snippets from among the plurality of pre-recorded snippets.

17. The self sedation and suggestion system of claim 16, wherein the script is further comprised of at least one user snippet not in the plurality of pre-recorded snippets.

18. The self sedation and suggestion system of claim 17, wherein the at least one user snippet is a recording of words spoken by the user into the input component.

The self sedation and suggestion system of claim 16, wherein the input component receives a desired time length from the user, and wherein the script generation engine selects the collection of snippets so that the script generated by the script generation engine has a playback time within one minute of the desired time length.

20. The self sedation and suggestion system of claim 19, further comprising a time adjustment module for directing the processor to remove snippets from or add snippets to the script in response to a user command to curtail or extend the playback time.
