Abstract

An image forming apparatus and a method of controlling the same, when it is instructed that the security policy be enabled, changes a setting item corresponding to the security policy so that the security policy is satisfied, and sets so that a setting value of the setting item cannot be changed, and when it is instructed that the security policy be disabled, controls so that a setting value of the setting item is changed under a condition that a security policy associated with the setting item corresponding to the security policy is disabled.

Claims

1. An image forming apparatus, comprising:

an instruction unit configured to instruct that a security policy be enabled or disabled;

a setting unit configured to, in a case where it is instructed that the security policy be enabled by the instruction unit, change a setting item corresponding to the security policy so that the security policy is satisfied, as well as set so that a setting value of the setting item cannot be changed; and

a control unit configured to, in a case where it is instructed that the security policy be disabled by the instruction unit, control so that a setting value of the setting item is changed under a condition that a security policy associated with the setting item corresponding to the security policy is disabled.

2. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1,

further comprising a storage unit configured to store a conversion rule for changing the setting value of the setting item, wherein

the setting unit and the control unit change the setting value of the setting item in accordance with the conversion rule which is stored by the storage unit.

3. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the instruction unit receives an instruction transmitted from an external device and instructs based on the received instruction.

4. An image forming apparatus, comprising:

a storage unit configured to store a user mode including a setting value for setting an operation of the image forming apparatus, and access control information for controlling whether or not the setting value can be changed;

a conversion unit configured to convert a security policy, which is a setting that does not depend a device model, into the user mode in accordance with a conversion rule; and

a reflection unit configured to reflect in the image forming apparatus the user mode into which the security policy is converted by the conversion unit, wherein

the conversion rule defines a change condition for the access control information and the setting value of the user mode which is associated with a setting item that is disabled by the security policy.

5. The image forming apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the conversion rule sets the access control information not to permit the setting value to be changed in a case where the setting value of the user mode is ON.

The image forming apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the access control information comprises a numeric value that is incremented when a setting of a security policy that is associated is enabled, and that is decremented when the setting of the security policy that is associated is disabled, and does not permit the setting value to be changed if the numeric value is larger than 0.

7. The image forming apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the numeric value indicates a number of the user mode corresponding to one of the setting of the security policy.

The image forming apparatus according to claim 4, wherein for the user mode the access control information is arranged for each of the setting of the security policy, and the setting value is permitted to be changed in a case where all of the access control information corresponding to the user mode permits the setting value to be changed.

9. The image forming apparatus according to claim 4, further comprising a notification unit configured to notify a user of the user mode, which is associated with a setting item that is disabled by the security policy, and for which the access control information of the user mode is not changed.

10. The image forming apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the security policy is received from an information processing apparatus.

11. A method of controlling an image forming apparatus, the method comprising:

an instruction step of instructing that a security policy be enabled or disabled;

a setting step of, in a case where it is instructed that the security policy be enabled by the instruction step, changing a setting item corresponding to the security policy so that the security policy is satisfied, as well as setting so that a setting value of the setting item cannot be changed; and

a control step of, in a case where it is instructed that the security policy be disabled by the instruction step, controlling so that a setting value of the setting item is changed under a condition that a security policy associated with the setting item corresponding to the security policy is disabled.

13. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute each step of the method of controlling the image forming apparatus according to claim 11.

12. A method of controlling an image forming apparatus, the method comprising:

a storage step of storing a user mode including a setting value for setting an operation of the image forming apparatus, and access control information for controlling whether or not the setting value can be changed;

a conversion step of converting a security policy, which is a setting that does not depend a device model, into the user mode in accordance with a conversion rule; and

a reflection step of reflecting in the image forming apparatus the user mode into which the security policy is converted by the conversion step, wherein

the conversion rule defines a change condition for the access control information and the setting value of the user mode which is associated with a setting item that is disabled by the security policy.

14. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute each step of the method of controlling the image forming apparatus according to claim 12.
