Abstract

A method of processing an interactive service and an apparatus thereof are disclosed. The present invention includes receiving uncompressed audio contents or uncompressed video contents from an external decoding unit, extracting an identifier of a frame from the received content, sending a request containing the identifier to a server and receiving a trigger for the content from the server based on the request, wherein the trigger indicates the current time of the contents and references a particular interactive event in an application parameter table or signals that the event is to be executed now or at a specified future time and the application parameter table includes information about at least one of applications.

Claims

1. A method of presenting a content, the method comprising:

generating a first signaling information including metadata about applications;

generating a second signaling information establishing a time base for an event, wherein the second signaling information includes a timestamp indicating current media time of contents; and

transmitting the first signaling information and the second signaling information to a receiver.

2. The method of claim 1,

wherein the first signaling information includes an application element having information about an application.

3. The method of claim 2,

wherein the application element includes an application identifier and an event element having information about the event targeted to the application, and wherein the event element includes an event identifier.

4. The method of claim 1,

wherein the first signaling information includes a live trigger element having information for downloading a third signaling information via internet, and wherein the third signaling information sets an activation time for the event.

5. The method of claim 4, the method further includes:

generating the third signaling information having information about an activation for the event; and

delivering the third signaling information to a server.

6. The method of claim 5,

wherein the server receives a request including current media time from the receiver, wherein the third signaling information, generated within a polling period ending at the current media time, are delivered to the receiver via internet.

7. An apparatus for presenting a content, the apparatus comprising:

a receiving module that receives a first signaling information including metadata about applications,

wherein the receiving module receives a second signaling information establishing a time base for an event, wherein the second signaling information includes a timestamp indicating current media time of contents;

a parsing module that parses the first signaling information and the second signaling information; and

a service providing module that provides the content according to information in the parsed first signaling information and the parsed second signaling information.

8. The apparatus of claim 7,

wherein the first signaling information includes an application element having information about an application.

9. The apparatus of claim 8,

wherein the application element includes an application identifier and an event element having information about the event targeted to the application, and wherein the event element includes an event identifier.

10. The apparatus of claim 7,

wherein the first signaling information includes a live trigger element for downloading a third signaling information via internet, and wherein the third signaling information sets an activation time for the event.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, the apparatus further includes:

a network interface that receives the third signaling information having information about an activation for the event, from a server.

12. The apparatus of claim 11,

wherein the network interface sends a request including current media time, to the server, and

wherein the network interface receives the third signaling information, generated within a polling period ending at the current media time, via internet.
