Abstract

An exhaust gas recirculation (“EGR”) power module configured for a wire harness of an altimetric/barometric pressure sensor of an EGR system for an engine includes a set of wires and a circuit. The set of wires is configured to match the wire harness on the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor for the engine. The circuit provides a resistance to the wire harness through the set of wires.

Claims

1. An exhaust gas recirculation (“

EGR”

) power module configured for a wire harness of an altimetric/barometric pressure sensor of an EGR system for an engine comprising;

a set of wires configured to match the wire harness for the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor for the engine; and

a circuit connected to said set of wires;

said circuit providing a resistance to the set of wires.

2. The EGR power module of claim 1, wherein the wire harness of the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor includes a female plug, wherein the EGR power module further comprising:

a male plug disposed at an end of said set of wires configured to match the female plug of the wire harness of the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor.

3. The EGR power module of claim 1, wherein the engine is a 2002 through 2006 Detroit Diesel 12.7 and/or 14.0 liter engine, whereby the EGR power module being configured:

to maintain the EGR system at approximately or equal to seven percent; and

/or

wherein, said resistance is approximately or equal to 4.8 ohms.

4. The EGR power module of claim 1, wherein said circuit comprising at least one electrical component being at least one resistor, at least one capacitor, and/or combinations thereof.

5. The EGR power module of claim 4, wherein said at least one electrical component including two resistors connected in series, each resistor is a 10 k ohm ½

watt resistor adapted to carry 5 volts, whereby when connected in series provide the steady electrical current flow of approximately 2.5 volts.

6. The EGR power module of claim 4 further comprising:

a pc board for holding said circuit and connecting the electrical components; and

/or

tab connectors attached to ends of each wire in the set of wires, wherein the set of wires include an input wire, a first output wire, and a second output wire.

7. The EGR power module of claim 1 being weatherproofed, wherein:

said circuit is covered in epoxy;

said set of wires includes heat shrink tubing;

a multipurpose rubber coating over said heat shrink tubing and the circuit; and

/or

said set of wires including a potting box.

8. A circuit for an exhaust gas recirculation (“

EGR”

) power module comprising;

an input wire;

a first output wire;

a second output wire; and

at least one electrical component interconnecting said input wire with said first and second output wires;

said at least one electrical component providing a resistance from said input wire to each of said first and second output wires.

9. The circuit for an EGR power module of claim 8 wherein said resistance to each of said first and second output wires is approximately or equal to 4.8 ohms.

10. The circuit for an EGR power module of claim 8 comprising at least one electrical component interconnecting said input wire with said first and second output wires, said at least one electrical component being at least one resistor, at least one capacitor, and/or combinations thereof.

11. The circuit for an EGR power module of claim 10 comprising:

at least one right electrical component interconnecting said input wire with said first output wire; and

at least one left electrical component interconnecting said input wire with said second output wire.

12. The circuit for an EGR power module of claim 11, wherein:

two left electrical components are interconnected in series between said input wire and said first output wire; and

two right electrical components are interconnected in series between said input wire and said second output wire;

wherein each of said two left electrical components and said two right electrical components are resistors, each resistor is a 10 k ohm ½

watt resistor adapted to carry 5 volts, whereby when connected in series may provide the steady electrical current flow of approximately 2.5 volts.

13. The circuit for an EGR power module of claim 10 being weatherproofed and further comprising:

a pc board between said input wire and said first and second output wires for holding the circuit and connecting said electrical components;

said electrical components are covered in epoxy on said pc board;

said input wire and said first and second output wires including heat shrink tubing; and

said heat shrink tubing, the pc board, and the plurality of electrical components are dipped in a multipurpose rubber coating.

14. The circuit for an EGR power module of claim 8, further comprising:

tab connectors attached to the ends of the input wire, the first output wire, and/or the second output wire;

additional heat shrink tubing attached to the tab connector;

said input wire being red;

said first output wire being black; and

said second output wire being white or green.

The circuit for an EGR power module of claim 8 further comprising a male plug with a potting box inside, said male plug matching a female end in the wire harness on an altimetric/barometric pressure sensor for an EGR system of an engine, wherein said engine being a 2002 through 2006 Detroit Diesel 12.7 and/or 14.0 liter engine.

16. A method of controlling an exhaust gas recirculation (“

EGR”

) system of an engine for improving efficiency and/or life of the engine comprising the steps of;

providing an EGR power module configured for a wire harness of an altimetric/barometric pressure sensor of the EGR system;

removing the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor;

installing the provided EGR power module on the wire harness of the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor of the EGR system; and

controlling the EGR system with the EGR power module.

17. The method of claim 16 including being without the steps of removing EGR system and/or modifying the EGR system.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein:

said step of controlling the EGR system with the EGR power module including maintaining the EGR system at a desired load including providing a resistance and/or steady electrical current flow to the wire harness of the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor of the EGR system based on the desired load, wherein the desired load is approximately seven percent, the resistance is approximately 4.8 ohms, and/or the steady electrical current flow is approximately 2.5 volts;

said step of removing the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor including the steps of;

locating the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor on the engine; and

unplugging the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor from its wire harness; and

/or

said step of installing the EGR power module on the wire harness of the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor of the EGR system including the step of plugging the EGR power module into the wire harness of the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor.

19. The method of claim 16 further comprising the steps of:

storing the altimetric/barometric pressure sensor in a safe place;

starting the engine;

looking to see that no check engine lights are on;

checking that a cross over pipe remains cool to touch; and

/or

checking an actuator rod that controls a variable nozzle turbocharger (“

VNT”

) on turbo is going to top at stop screw.

20. The method of claim 16 wherein the engine being a 2002 through 2006 Detroit Diesel 12.7 and/or 14.0 liter engine.
