Abstract

A system for managing vehicle information displayed on a plurality of vehicles, said system including a central computer system and plurality of electronic display devices (EDD), each being associated with one of said vehicles and each being in electronic communication with the central computer system (CCS). The CCS includes one or more computer processors; computer readable data storage; and a CCS computer program stored on said data storage, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of selecting a vehicle from said plurality of vehicles; generating vehicle data representing information about said vehicle; and sending said vehicle data to an associated one of said EDDs. Each one of said EDDs includes one or more computer processors; computer readable data storage; an EDD computer program stored on said data storage; and a visual display unit, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of receiving vehicle data from the CCS representing information about an associated vehicle; and displaying said vehicle data representing information about the associated vehicle on the visual display unit.

Claims

1. A system for managing vehicle information displayed on a plurality of vehicles, said system including a central computer system and plurality of electronic display devices (EDD), each being associated with one of said vehicles and each being in electronic communication with the central computer system (CCS), wherein:

said CCS includes one or more computer processors;

computer readable data storage; and

a CCS computer program stored on said data storage, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of;

(a) selecting a vehicle from said plurality of vehicles;

(b) generating vehicle data representing information about said vehicle; and

(c) sending said vehicle data to an associated one of said EDDs, and

each one of said EDDs includes one or more computer processors;

computer readable data storage;

an EDD computer program stored on said data storage; and

a visual display unit, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of;

(a) receiving vehicle data from the CCS representing information about an associated vehicle; and

(b) displaying said vehicle data representing information about the associated vehicle on the visual display unit.

2. The system claimed in claim 1, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) associating a vehicle with an EDD by sending an association request to an EDD;

(b) receiving an association confirmation from said EDD; and

(c) recording said association in said data storage.

3. The system claimed in claim 2, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving an association request from the CCS;

(b) sending an association confirmation to the CCS; and

(c) recording said association in said data storage.

4. The system claimed in claim 1, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) recording log information about the associated vehicle; and

(b) sending said log information to the CCS.

5. The system claimed in claim 4, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(d) receiving log information from one of said EDDs; and

(e) recording the log information in said data storage.

6. The system claimed in claim 4, wherein the step of recording log information includes the step of recording vehicle usage.

7. The system claimed in claim 6, wherein said vehicle usage includes the number of test drives.

8. The system claimed in claim 4, wherein the step of recording log information includes the step of recording vehicle location.

9. The system claimed in claim 4, wherein the step of recording log information includes the step of recording distance traveled during a test drive.

10. The system claimed in claim 1, wherein the EDDs each include digital recording apparatus, each EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of actuating the digital recording apparatus to capture personal information.

11. The system claimed in claim 10, wherein the personal information is data representing an image of a business card or a driver'"'"'s license.

12. The system claimed in claim 10, wherein the digital recording apparatus is a digital camera or a scanner.

13. The system claimed in claim 10, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the step of sending said personal information to the CCS.

14. The system claimed in claim 13, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving personal information from one of said EDDs; and

(b) recording the log personal information in said data storage.

15. The system claimed in claim 1, including a printer in electrical communication with the CCS, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) selecting one of said vehicles; and

(b) retrieving data representing information about said vehicle from the data storage; and

(c) sending said data representing information about said vehicle to said printer to produce a printed document.

16. The system claimed in claim 8, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) selecting one of said vehicles; and

(b) generating data representing a vehicle position;

(c) generating data representing a map including indicia indicating said vehicle position;

(d) displaying said data representing a map including indicia indicating said vehicle position on a visual display unit in electronic communication with the CCS.

17. The system claimed in claim 4, wherein each one of said EDDs includes an accelerometer, each EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) generating data representing movement of the EDD; and

(b) sending data representing movement of the EDD to the CCS.

18. The system claimed in claim 17, wherein the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving data representing movement of an EDD; and

(b) recording the data representing the movement in the data storage.

19. The system claimed in claim 18, wherein the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the step generating an alert signal if the data representing movement of the vehicle is unauthorised.

20. The system claimed in claim 1, wherein said vehicle data includes at least one of the following:

(a) vehicle make;

(b) vehicle warrantee information; and

(c) model registration number.

21. The system claimed in claim 1, wherein said vehicle data includes at least one of the following:

(a) offered sale prices; and

(b) vehicle odometer readings.

22. The system claimed in claim 1, wherein the vehicle data includes one or more of the dealership LMCT;

odometer reading; and

drive away price.

23. The system claimed in claim 1, wherein the vehicle data includes one or more of the following:

The last owner of the motor car,

The distance traveled by the motor car entered by the motor car trader

The cash price of the motor car

A statement that the cash price does not include transfer fee or stamp duty

Car registration period

Car built date, compliance date, Date car first registered

Model number

Registration number

Engine number

If RWC is provided

Statement informing the prospective purchaser of the warrantee period and the cooling off period.

27. The system claimed in claim 4, wherein the step of recording log information includes the step of recording vehicle usage.

24. A central computer system (CCS) for managing vehicle information displayed on electronic display devices (EDDs) displayed on a plurality of vehicles, including one or more computer processors;

computer readable data storage; and

a CCS computer program stored on said data storage, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of;

(a) selecting a vehicle from said plurality of vehicles;

(b) generating vehicle data representing information about said vehicle; and

(c) sending said vehicle data to an associated one of said EDDs, and

25. The system claimed in claim 24, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) associating a vehicle with an EDD by sending an association request to an EDD;

(b) receiving an association confirmation from said EDD; and

(c) recording said association in said data storage.

26. The system claimed in claim 24, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving log information from one of said EDDs; and

(b) recording the log information in said data storage.

29. The system claimed in claim 26, wherein the log information includes vehicle location.

30. The system claimed in claim 26, wherein the log information includes distance traveled during a test drive.

31. The system claimed in claim 24, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving personal information from one of said EDDs; and

(b) recording the log personal information in said data storage.

32. The system claimed in claim 24, including a printer in electrical communication with the CCS, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) selecting one of said vehicles; and

(b) retrieving data representing information about said vehicle from the data storage; and

(c) sending said data representing information about said vehicle to said printer to produce a printed document.

33. The system claimed in claim 29, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) selecting one of said vehicles; and

(b) generating data representing a vehicle position;

(c) generating data representing a map including indicia indicating said vehicle position;

(d) displaying said data representing a map including indicia indicating said vehicle position on a visual display unit in electronic communication with the CCS.

34. The system claimed in claim 24, wherein the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving data representing movement of an EDD; and

(b) recording the data representing the movement in the data storage.

35. The system claimed in claim 34, wherein the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the step generating an alert signal if the data representing movement of the vehicle is unauthorised.

36. The system claimed in claim 24, wherein said vehicle data includes at least one of the following:

(a) vehicle make;

(b) vehicle warrantee information; and

(c) model registration number.

37. The system claimed in claim 24, wherein said vehicle data includes at least one of the following:

(a) offered sale prices; and

(b) vehicle odometer readings.

38. The system claimed in claim 24, wherein the vehicle data includes one or more of the dealership LMCT;

40. A computer program for a central computer system (CCS) for managing vehicle information displayed on electronic display devices (EDDs) displayed on a plurality of vehicles, including one or more computer processors;

computer readable data storage; and

a CCS computer program stored on said data storage, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of;

(a) selecting a vehicle from said plurality of vehicles;

(b) generating vehicle data representing information about said vehicle; and

(c) sending said vehicle data to an associated one of said EDDs, and

41. The program claimed in claim 40, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) associating a vehicle with an EDD by sending an association request to an EDD;

(b) receiving an association confirmation from said EDD; and

(c) storing said association in said data storage.

42. The program claimed in claim 40, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving log information from one of said EDDs; and

(b) recording the log information in said data storage.

43. The program claimed in claim 42, wherein the step of recording log information includes the step of recording vehicle usage.

44. The program claimed in claim 43, wherein said vehicle usage includes the number of test drives.

45. The program claimed in claim 42, wherein the log information includes vehicle location.

46. The program claimed in claim 42, wherein the log information includes distance traveled during a test drive.

47. The program claimed in claim 40, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving personal information from one of said EDDs; and

(b) recording the log personal information in said data storage.

48. The program claimed in claim 40, including a printer in electrical communication with the CCS, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) selecting one of said vehicles; and

(b) retrieving data representing information about said vehicle from the data storage; and

(c) sending said data representing information about said vehicle to said printer to produce a printed document.

49. The program claimed in claim 45, the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) selecting one of said vehicles; and

(b) generating data representing a vehicle position;

(c) generating data representing a map including indicia indicating said vehicle position;

(d) displaying said data representing a map including indicia indicating said vehicle position on a visual display unit in electronic communication with the CCS.

50. The program claimed in claim 40, wherein the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving data representing movement of an EDD; and

(b) storing the data representing the movement in the data storage.

51. The program claimed in claim 50, wherein the CCS program being executable by the processors to perform the step generating an alert signal if the data representing movement of the vehicle is unauthorised.

52. The program claimed in claim 40, wherein said vehicle data includes at least one of the following:

(a) vehicle make;

(b) vehicle warrantee information; and

(c) model registration number.

53. The program claimed in claim 40, wherein the vehicle data includes one or more of the dealership LMCT;

odometer reading; and

drive away price.

54. An electronic display device (EDD) for managing vehicle information, including one or more computer processors;

computer readable data storage;

an EDD computer program stored on said data storage; and

a visual display unit, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of;

(a) receiving vehicle data from a central computer system (CCS) representing information about an associated vehicle; and

(b) displaying said vehicle data representing information about the associated vehicle on the visual display unit.

55. The device claimed in claim 54, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving an association request from the CCS for an associated vehicle;

(b) sending an association confirmation to the CCS; and

(c) recording said association in said data storage.

56. The device claimed in claim 54, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) recording log information about the associated vehicle; and

(b) sending said log information to the CCS.

57. The device claimed in claim 56, wherein the step of recording log information includes the step of recording vehicle usage.

58. The device claimed in claim 57, wherein said vehicle usage includes the number of test drives.

59. The device claimed in claim 56, wherein the step of recording log information includes the step of recording vehicle location.

61. The device claimed in claim 54, including digital recording apparatus, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of actuating the digital recording apparatus to capture personal information.

a visual display unit, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of;

(a) receiving vehicle data from a central computer system (CCS) representing information about an associated vehicle; and

(b) displaying said vehicle data representing information about the associated vehicle on the visual display unit.

71. The program claimed in claim 70, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) receiving an association request from the CCS for an associated vehicle;

(b) sending an association confirmation to the CCS; and

(c) recording said association in said data storage.

72. The program claimed in claim 70, the EDD program being executable by the processors to perform the steps of:

(a) recording log information about the associated vehicle; and

(b) sending said log information to the CCS.
