Abstract

A method, an apparatus and a recording medium are provided for display control. The display control apparatus comprises a circuitry configured to set a display hold state, change a display state from a first state displaying a first screen, to the other state, in a case that the display control apparatus is not operated in a predetermined period, and return to the first state, in response to an operation, displaying the first screen in an orientation determined based on an attitude of the display control apparatus and the display hold state. The recording medium comprises instructions to configure the apparatus to perform a display control method.

24. A display control apparatus comprising:

a circuitry configured to;

set a display hold state;

change a display state from a first state displaying a first screen, to the other state, in a case that the display control apparatus is not operated in a predetermined period; and

return to the first state, in response to an operation, displaying the first screen in an orientation determined based on an attitude of the display control apparatus and the display hold state.

25. The display control apparatus of claim 24, wherein the first screen includes a menu.

26. The display control apparatus of claim 24, wherein the circuitry is configured to return to the first state from a state displaying a waiting screen.

27. The display control apparatus of claim 26, wherein the waiting screen includes a screen-saver.

28. The display control apparatus of claim 24, wherein the other state includes a state displaying a waiting screen.

29. The display control apparatus of claim 24, wherein the circuitry is configured to:

receive an indication to set the display hold state from an interface; and

responsive to receiving the indication, set the display hold state.

30. The display control apparatus of claim 24, wherein the display orientation of the first screen is determined in response to a change of the display hold state.

31. The display control apparatus of claim 24, wherein the display orientation of the first screen is selected from a set of orientations that includes a first predetermined orientation and a second predetermined orientation.

32. The display control apparatus of claim 24, wherein the display orientation of the first screen is determined in response to the operation.

33. The display control apparatus of claim 24, wherein the display control apparatus further includes an acceleration sensor configured to detect the attitude of the display control apparatus.

34. The display control apparatus of claim 24, wherein the circuitry is further configured to change a setting of an operating interface.

35. The display control apparatus of claim 34, wherein the setting of the operating interface includes an interpretation of an operation detected at the operating interface, and wherein the interpretation is based on the attitude of the display control apparatus.

36. A method for display control, the method being implemented by a display control apparatus, comprising:

setting a display hold state;

changing a display state from a first state displaying a first screen, to the other state, in a case that the display control apparatus is not operated in a predetermined period; and

returning to the first state, in response to an operation;

wherein the first screen is displayed in an orientation determined based on an attitude of the display control apparatus and the display hold state.

37. The method of claim 36, wherein the first screen includes a menu.

38. The method of claim 36, wherein the first state is returned from a state displaying a waiting screen.

39. The method of claim 38, wherein the waiting screen includes a screen-saver.

40. The method of claim 36, wherein the other state includes a state displaying a waiting screen.

41. The method of claim 36, further comprising:

receiving an indication to set the display hold state from an interface; and

responsive to receiving the indication, setting the display hold state.

42. The method of claim 36, wherein the display orientation of the first screen is determined in response to a change of the display hold state.

43. The method of claim 36, wherein the display orientation of the first screen is selected from a set of orientations that includes a first predetermined orientation and a second predetermined orientation.

44. The method of claim 36, wherein the display orientation of the first screen is determined in response to the operation.

45. The method of claim 36, wherein the attitude of the display control apparatus is detected by an acceleration sensor.

46. The method of claim 36, further comprising:

changing a setting of an operating interface based on the attitude of the display control apparatus.

47. A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a display control apparatus, cause the display control apparatus to:

set a display hold state;

change a display state from a first state displaying a first screen, to the other state, in a case that the display control apparatus is not operated in a predetermined period; and

return to the first state, in response to an operation, displaying the first screen in an orientation determined based on an attitude of the display control apparatus and the display hold state.

48. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, wherein the first screen includes a menu.

49. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, wherein the first state is returned from a state displaying a waiting screen.

50. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 49, wherein the waiting screen is a screen-saver.

51. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, wherein the other state includes a state displaying a waiting screen.

52. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, wherein the instructions further cause the display control apparatus to:

receive an indication to set the display hold state from an interface; and

responsive to receiving the indication, set the display hold state.

53. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, wherein the display orientation of the first screen is determined in response to a change of the display hold state.

54. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, wherein the display orientation of the first screen is selected from a set of orientations that includes a first predetermined orientation and a second predetermined orientation.

55. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, wherein the display orientation of the first screen is determined in response to the operation.

56. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, wherein the attitude of the display control apparatus is detected by an acceleration sensor.

57. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 56, wherein the instructions further cause the display control apparatus to change a setting of an operating interface based on the attitude of the display control apparatus.
