Abstract

A personal items network, comprising a plurality of items, each item having a wireless communications port for coupling in network with every other item, each item having a processor for determining if any other item in the network is no longer linked to the item, each item having an indicator for informing a user that an item has left the network, wherein a user may locate lost items. A method for locating lost personal items, comprising: linking at least two personal items together on a network; and depositing one or both of time and location information in an unlost item when one of the items is lost out of network.

21. A movement measurement system for measuring movement comprising:

an accelerometer sensor operative to generate sensor data based on movement of the accelerometer sensor;

a global positioning system (GPS) sensor operative to generate position data;

at least one transmission communications port operatively coupled to the accelerometer sensor and the GPS sensor, the at least one transmission communications port operative to wirelessly transmit signals based on the sensor data and the position data;

a receiver communications port operative to wirelessly receive the signals from the at least one transmission communications port;

at least one processor operative to process the received signals to generate event data, wherein the event data is indicative of at least one of a distance traveled and a velocity; and

an output component operative to visually provide the event data.

22. The movement measurement system of claim 21, wherein at least one of the accelerometer sensor and the GPS sensor is operative to be worn on a person.

23. The movement measurement system of claim 21, further comprising a watch operative to be worn on a person, wherein the watch is configured to house at least one of the accelerometer and the GPS sensor.

24. The movement measurement system of claim 21, wherein the event data is further indicative of caloric burn.

25. The movement measurement system of claim 21, wherein the event data is indicative of at least a velocity.

26. A device comprising:

a receiver communications port operative to wirelessly receive sensor data from an accelerometer sensor and position data from a global positioning system (GPS) sensor, wherein the accelerometer sensor and the GPS sensor are disposed external to the device;

at least one processor operative to process the received sensor data and the received position data to generate event data, wherein the event data is indicative of at least one of a distance traveled and a velocity; and

an output component operative to present the event data.

27. The device of claim 26, wherein at least one of the receiver communications port, the at least one processor, and the output component is operative to be worn.

28. The device of claim 26, further comprising a housing that at least partially encloses the receiver communications port, the at least one processor, and the output component.

29. The device of claim 28, wherein the housing is operative to be worn on a wrist.

30. The device of claim 29, wherein the device is a watch.

31. The device of claim 26, wherein the event data is further indicative of caloric burn.

32. The device of claim 26, wherein the event data is indicative of at least a velocity.

33. The device of claim 26, wherein the output component is a visual display that is operative to visually present the event data to the user.

34. A device comprising:

an accelerometer sensor operative to generate sensor data based on movement of the accelerometer sensor;

a global positioning system (GPS) sensor operative to generate position data;

at least one transmission communications port operatively coupled to the accelerometer sensor and the GPS sensor, the at least one transmission communications port operative to wirelessly transmit signals based on the sensor data and the position data to a destination external to the device; and

a housing that at least partially encloses the accelerometer sensor, the GPS sensor, and the at least one transmission communications port.

35. The device of claim 34, wherein the housing is operative to be worn.

36. The device of claim 34, wherein the housing is operative to be worn on a wrist.

37. The device of claim 36, wherein the device is a watch.

38. The device of claim 34, wherein the housing is operative to be worn on a foot.

39. The device of claim 38, wherein the housing is operative to be integrated into a shoe.

40. The device of claim 34, wherein the housing comprises an adhesive bandage.
