Abstract

A system for facilitating a medical order/prescription of a prescription product is provided. The system includes a memory device having stored therein a plurality of predefined forms, a receiver configured to receive (i) prescription product information from a healthcare provider (HCP) computing device, (ii) patient intake information, and (iii) a benefits summary in response to a benefits verification request, and a processor configured to generate the benefits verification request for the patient based on the patient intake information, select one of the predefined forms, populate the selected predefined form, generate a patient history based on at least one of the benefits summary and the populated form, and cause the patient history to be displayed on the HCP computing device, the displayed patient history including at least one of a date associated with receipt of the benefits summary by the HCP computing device and an expiration date of the populated form.

Claims

1. A system for facilitating a medical order/prescription of a prescription product for a patient covered by a provider, comprising:

at least one memory device having stored therein a plurality of predefined forms for the prescription product, the plurality of predefined forms corresponding to a plurality of providers;

a receiver configured to receive (i) prescription product information for the prescription product from a healthcare provider (HCP) computing device, (ii) patient intake information for the patient including provider information for the patient from the HCP computing device, and (iii) a benefits summary related to the patient in response to a benefits verification request;

a transmitter configured to transmit the benefits verification request; and

at least one processor configured to;

generate the benefits verification request for the patient based on the patient intake information;

select one of the predefined forms based on at least the patient provider information;

populate at least one field of the selected predefined form based on the patient intake information;

generate a patient history based on at least one of the benefits summary and the populated form; and

cause the patient history to be displayed on the HCP computing device, the displayed patient history including at least one of a date associated with receipt of the benefits summary by the HCP computing device and an expiration date of the populated form.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of predefined forms comprise at least one prior authorization form required by the provider for covering the medical order/prescription.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one memory device has stored therein a second plurality of forms for a second prescription product, the second plurality of predefined forms corresponding to a plurality of providers.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to automatically select one of the predefined forms based on the patient provider information.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein the transmitter is configured to transmit the benefits verification request to a benefits verifier, and wherein the receiver is configured to receive the benefits summary from the benefits verifier.

69. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

collect data for at least one time interval associated with processing the selected predefined form; and

analyze the collected data to determine a diligence of the HCP.

The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to generate an alert to facilitate reminding a user that an action is to be performed, the alert generated based at least partially on information contained in at least one of the benefits summary and the populated form.

25. A method for facilitating a medical order/prescription of a prescription product for a patient covered by a provider, comprising:

providing at least one memory having stored therein a plurality of predefined forms for the prescription product, the plurality of predefined forms corresponding to a plurality of providers;

receiving, from a healthcare provider (HCP) computing device, (i) patient intake information including provider information of the patient and (ii) prescription product information for the prescription product;

generating, by a processor, a benefits verification request for the patient based on the patient intake information;

obtaining a benefits summary based on the benefits verification request;

selecting one of the predefined forms based on at least one of the patient provider information and the benefits summary;

populating at least one field of the selected predefined form based on the patient intake information;

generating a patient history based on at least one of the benefits summary and the populated form; and

causing the patient history to be displayed on the HCP computing device, the displayed patient history including at least one of a date associated with receipt of the benefits summary by the HCP computing device and an expiration date of the populated form.

31. The method of claim 25, further comprising selecting a prescription product from a number of possible prescription products, the memory having stored therein a plurality of predefined forms for each possible prescription product.

33. The method of claim 25, wherein obtaining a benefits summary comprises:

transmitting the benefits verification request to a benefits verifier; and

receiving the benefits summary from the benefits verifier.

38. The method of claim 25, wherein the populated predefined form is transmitted to the provider of the patient.

39. The method of claim 25, further comprising:

receiving a healthcare provider signature;

generating a prescription document from the prescription product information; and

releasing the prescription document to a pharmacy.

40. The method of claim 25, further comprising transmitting markup language describing a user interface over the network, the user interface including fields for entry of the patient intake information and the prescription product information.

71. The method of claim 25, further comprising generating an alert to facilitate reminding a user that an action is to be performed, the alert generated based at least partially on information contained in at least one of the benefits summary and the populated form.

47. A non-transitory computer readable medium containing computer-executable instructions that when executed cause one or more user devices to perform a method of facilitating a medical order/prescription of a prescription product for a patient covered by a provider, the method comprising:

providing at least one memory having stored therein a plurality of predefined forms corresponding to one or more providers stored therein;

receiving, from a healthcare provider (HCP) computing device, patient intake information including patient provider and prescription product information for the prescription product;

generating, by a processor, a benefits verification request for the patient based on the patient intake information;

obtaining a benefits summary based on the benefits verification request;

selecting one of the predefined forms based on at least one of the patient provider information and the benefits summary;

populating at least one field of the selected predefined form based on the patient intake information;

generating a patient history based on at least one of the benefits summary and the populated form; and

causing the patient history to be displayed on the HCP computing device, the displayed patient history including at least one of a date associated with receipt of the benefits summary by the HCP computing device and an expiration date of the populated form.

54. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, wherein selecting one of the predefined forms includes automatically selecting, by the processor, one of the predefined forms.

55. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, wherein obtaining a benefits summary comprises:

transmitting the benefits verification request to a benefits verifier; and

receiving the benefits summary from the benefits verifier.

60. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47,

wherein the populated predefined form is released to the provider of the patient.

61. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, further comprising:

receiving a healthcare provider signature;

generating a prescription document from the prescription product information; and

releasing the prescription document to a pharmacy.

62. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 47, further comprising transmitting markup language describing a user interface over the network, the user interface including fields for entry of the patient intake information and the prescription product information.
