Abstract

An automated system is disclosed for detecting situations in which identical segments of conversation appear within two different recordings. The system automatically detects where within each of two audio recordings an identical conversation segment begins and ends, thus enabling detection of conversations where multiple prison inmates participated in a conference call.

Claims

1. A method of detecting disallowed telecommunications between two persons, comprising:

a) digitally recording at phone 1 a telephone call in which a person at phone 1 is a participant, to produce recording 1;

b) digitally recording at phone 2 a telephone call in which a person at phone 2 is a participant to produce recording 2;

c) digitally correlating recording 1 and recording 2 to detect an overlapping portion of recording 1 and recording 2 which are correlated to greater than a pre-determined threshold.
