Abstract

The method for performing device-to-device communication by a first device according to the present invention comprises: a step of searching a second device that supports device-to-device communication; a step of receiving, from the found second device, second network information including information on whether or not the second device may access the Internet; and a step of determining either the first device or the second device as a group owner based on a first network information including on whether or not the first device may access the Internet and the second network information on the second device. The first device determines the second device as a group owner when the first network information indicates that the first device may not access the Internet.

Claims

1. A method of performing a device-to-device communication in a 1^st device, comprising the steps of:

discovering a 2^nd device supportive of the device-to-device communication;

receiving a 2^nd network information including an information on an ability or inability of internet access of the 2^nd device from the discovered 2^nd device; and

determining either the 1^st device or the 2^nd device as a group owner based on a 1^st network information including an information on an ability or inability of internet access of the 1^st device and the 2^nd network information of the 2^nd device, wherein if the 1^st network information indicates the inability of the internet access, the 1^st device determines the 2^nd device as the group owner.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein if the 1^st network information of the 1^st device indicates the ability of the internet access and the 2^nd network information of the 2^nd device indicates the ability of the internet access, the 2^nd device is determined as the group owner.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising the steps of:

receiving a group owner intent value of the 2^nd device from the 2^nd device; and

setting the group owner intent value of the 1^st device by comparing the group owner intent value of the 1^st device to the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device in order for the group owner intent value of a device determined as the group owner to have a greater value.

The method of claim 6, wherein if the et device is determined as the group owner, the step of setting the group owner intent value of the et device comprises the step of comparing the group owner intent value of the et device to the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device and the step of if the group owner intent value of the et device is smaller than the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device, setting the group owner intent value of the 1^st device to be greater than the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device.

The method of claim 6, wherein if the 1^st device is determined as the group owner, the step of setting the group owner intent value of the et device comprises the step of comparing the group owner intent value of the et device to the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device and the step of if the group owner intent value of the et device is greater than the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device, setting the group owner intent value of the 1^st device to be smaller than the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device.

9. The method of claim 6, further comprising the step of sending the set group owner intent value of the 1^st device to the 2^nd device.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the et device comprises a mirroring server and wherein the 2^nd server comprises a mirroring client.

The method of claim I, wherein the 1^st network information further includes an information on a necessity of internet access of the 1^st device, wherein the 2^nd network information further includes an information on a necessity of internet access of the 2^nd device, and wherein if the 1^st network information indicates the ability of the internet access and the 2^nd network information indicates the inability of the internet access, either the 1^st device or the 2^nd device is determined as the group owner in further consideration of an internet access necessity information of the 1^st network information and an internet access necessity information of the 2^nd network information.

The method of claim 3, wherein if the network information of the 1^st device indicates the ability of the internet access and an unnecessariness of the internet access and the network information of the 2^nd device indicates the inability of the internet access and an unnecessariness of the internet access, the 2^nd device is determined as the group owner.

The method of claim 3, wherein the 2^nd network information further includes an information on an ability or inability of supportability of communication with multiple devices of the 2^nd device, wherein if the network information of the 1^st device indicates the ability of the internet access and the network information of the 2^nd device indicates the inability of the internet access, the necessity of the internet access and an unnecessariness of the supportability of the communication with the multiple devices, the 1^st device is determined as the group owner.

11. In performing a device-to-device communication, a 1^st device comprising:

a receiver discovering a 2^nd device supportive of the device-to-device communication, the receiver receiving a 2^nd network information including an information on an ability or inability of internet access of the 2^nd device from the discovered 2^nd device; and

a processor determining either the 1^st device or the 2^nd device as a group owner based on a 1^st network information including an information on an ability or inability of internet access of the 1^st device and the 2^nd network information of the 2^nd device, wherein if the 1^st network information indicates the inability of the internet access, the 1^st device determines the 2^nd device as the group owner.

12. The 1^st device of claim 11, wherein if the 1^st network information of the 1^st device indicates the ability of the internet access and the 2^nd network information of the 2^nd device indicates the ability of the internet access, the processor determines the 2^nd device as the group owner.

The 1^st device of claim 11, wherein the 1^st network information further includes an information on an ability or inability of internet access necessity of the 1^st device, wherein the 2^nd network information further includes an information on a necessity of internet access of the 2^nd device, and wherein if the 1^st network information indicates the ability of the internet access and the 2^nd network information indicates the inability of the internet access, the processor determines either the 1^st device or the 2^nd device as the group owner in further consideration of an internet access necessity information of the 1^st network information and an internet access necessity information of the 2^nd network information.

The 1^st device of claim 13, wherein if the network information of the 1^st device indicates the ability of the internet access and an unnecessariness of the internet access and the network information of the 2^nd device indicates the inability of the internet access and an unnecessariness of the internet access, the processor determines the 2^nd device as the group owner.

15. The 1^st device of claim 13, wherein the 2^nd network information further includes an information on an ability or inability of supportability of communication with multiple devices of the 2^nd device, wherein if the network information of the 1″

device indicates the ability of the internet access and the network information of the 2^nd device indicates the inability of the internet access, the necessity of the internet access and the inability of the supportability of the communication with the multiple devices, the processor determines the 1^st device as the group owner.

16. The 1^st device of claim 11, wherein the receiver receives a group owner intent value of the 2^nd device from the 2^nd device and wherein the processor sets the group owner intent value of the 1^st device by comparing the group owner intent value of the 1^st device to the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device in order for the group owner intent value of a device determined as the group owner to have a greater value.

The 1^st device of claim 16, wherein if the 1^st device is determined as the group owner, the processor compares the group owner intent value of the 1^st device to the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device and wherein if the group owner intent value of the 1^st device is smaller than the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device, the processor sets the group owner intent value of the 1^st device to be greater than the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device.

The 1^st device of claim 16, wherein if the 1^st device is determined as the group owner, the processor compares the group owner intent value of the 1^st device to the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device and wherein if the group owner intent value of the 1^st device is greater than the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device, the processor sets the group owner intent value of the 1^st device to be smaller than the group owner intent value of the 2^nd device.

19. The 1^st device of claim 16, further comprising a transmitter sending the set group owner intent value of the 1^st device to the 2^nd device.

20. The 1^st device of claim 11, wherein the 1^st device comprises a mirroring server and wherein the 2^nd server comprises a mirroring client.
