Abstract

Embodiments are directed to a computer implemented method of developing data for use by a business system. The method includes identifying, by a processor circuit, an occurrence having at least one characteristic that changes over time. The method further includes determining, by the processor circuit, a pattern of the change over time, wherein the pattern includes past changes and expected future changes. The method further includes identifying, by the processor circuit, a plurality of associations among data of an offering, data of a potential consumer and the pattern of the at least one characteristic'"'"'s change over time. The plurality of associations also change over time, and the data for use by the business system is derived from the plurality of associations that change over time.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method of developing data for use by a business system, the method comprising:

identifying, by a processor circuit, an occurrence having at least one characteristic that changes over time;

determining, by said processor circuit, a pattern of said change over time, wherein said pattern comprises past changes and expected future changes; and

identifying, by said processor circuit, a plurality of associations among data of an offering, data of at least one potential consumer and said pattern of said change over time;

wherein said plurality of associations change over time; and

wherein the data for use by the business system is derived from said plurality of associations that change over time.

2. The computer implemented method of claim 1, wherein said occurrence comprises at least one of a natural phenomenon and an event.

3. The computer implemented method of claim 2, wherein said occurrence is derived from social media activity.

4. The computer implemented method of claim 1, wherein said data of said at least one potential consumer comprises at least one of a social graph, a location and a household composition.

5. The computer implemented method of claim 1, wherein said at least one characteristic comprises at least one of a severity, a spatiotemporal characteristic, a coverage area and an expected duration.

6. The computer implemented method of claim 1, wherein the data for use by the business system comprises an affinity of said at least one potential consumer for said offering.

7. The computer implemented method of claim 1, further comprising identifying, by said processor circuit, a plurality of historical associations among:

historical data of other offerings;

historical data of other potential consumers; and

historical patterns of characteristics of historical occurrences that changed and moved over time;

wherein said plurality of historical associations result from previous iterations of the computer implemented method of developing data; and

wherein the data for use by the business system is further derived from said plurality of historical associations.

8. The computer implemented method of claim 7, wherein said plurality of historical associations are stored by a cloud computing environment.

9. The computer implemented method of claim 1, wherein:

the business system comprises a business marketing system; and

the business marketing system develops a message for said at least one potential consumer based on at least one of said plurality of associations.

10. The computer implemented method of claim 1, wherein:

the business system comprises a business merchandising system; and

the business merchandising system develops inventory and pricing strategies based on at least one of said plurality of associations.
