1. A wound-treatment apparatus, comprising:

  • a pump cassette having a pump body and a diaphragm movably coupled to the pump body to form a chamber having a variable volume in response to the stroke of the diaphragm, wherein the pump body includes an inlet valve adapted to receive fluid from a fluid source into the chamber and an outlet valve adapted to discharge fluid from the chamber to a wound in response to a motivating force that reduces the volume of the chamber;

    an identifier configurable to store pump information relating to at least one property of the diaphragm, the identifier adapted to be readable by an automated reader to provide the pump information; and

    an actuating mechanism adapted to be removably coupled to the diaphragm and operable to provide the motivating force to the diaphragm for moving the diaphragm by a desired stroke length in response to the pump information.
