WOUND TREATMENT APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLED DELIVERY OF FLUIDS TO A WOUND
First Claim
1. A wound-treatment apparatus, comprising:
- a pump cassette having a pump body and a diaphragm movably coupled to the pump body to form a chamber having a variable volume in response to the stroke of the diaphragm, wherein the pump body includes an inlet valve adapted to receive fluid from a fluid source into the chamber and an outlet valve adapted to discharge fluid from the chamber to a wound in response to a motivating force that reduces the volume of the chamber;
an identifier configurable to store pump information relating to at least one property of the diaphragm, the identifier adapted to be readable by an automated reader to provide the pump information; and
an actuating mechanism adapted to be removably coupled to the diaphragm and operable to provide the motivating force to the diaphragm for moving the diaphragm by a desired stroke length in response to the pump information.

Abstract
Pump cassettes, wound-treatment apparatuses and methods. In some embodiments, a pump cassette comprises: a pump body having a pump chamber, an inlet valve in fluid communication with the pump chamber, and an outlet valve in fluid communication with the pump chamber; a diaphragm coupled to the pump body such that the diaphragm is movable to vary a volume in the pump chamber; and an identifier configured to store one or more properties of the pump cassette such that the identifier is readable by an automated reader to determine the one or more properties. In some embodiments, the pump cassette is configured to be removably coupled to a wound-treatment apparatus having an actuator such that the actuator can be activated to move the diaphragm.

22. Wound-treatment apparatus for treating a wound, comprising:
-
a pump cassette having a pump body and a plurality of diaphragms movably coupled to the pump body to form a plurality of chambers, each chamber having a variable volume in response to the stroke of a corresponding diaphragm, wherein the pump body includes an inlet valve for each chamber adapted to receive fluid from a fluid source into the chamber and an outlet valve for each chamber adapted to discharge fluid from the chamber to a wound in response to a motivating force that reduces the volume of the chamber; an identifier configurable to store pump information relating to at least one property of at least one of the plurality of diaphragms, the identifier adapted to be readable by an automated reader to provide the pump information; and a plurality of actuating mechanism, each one adapted to be removably coupled to a corresponding one of the plurality of diaphragms and operable to provide the motivating force to the plurality of diaphragms for moving each one of the plurality of diaphragms by a desired stroke length in response to the pump information. - View Dependent Claims (23, 24)
