Abstract

In some examples, vehicle detection includes detecting a target vehicle that has at least one designated attribute, confirming that the detected target vehicle is within an unobstructed or partially obstructed line of sight of the first object, and confirming that the target vehicle has been detected within the unobstructed or partially obstructed line of sight of the first object.

Claims

1. A non-transitory computer-readable medium that stores executable instructions that, in response to execution by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform or control operations comprising:

searching for at least one target object;

detecting the at least one target object in an unobstructed line of sight in relation to a spotter vehicle in or on which the non-transitory computer-readable medium is hosted; and

confirming the detecting in the unobstructed line of sight.

2. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the non-transitory computer-readable medium is hosted on a built-in device in the spotter vehicle.

3. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the non-transitory computer-readable medium is hosted on a client device removably located in the spotter vehicle.

4. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the client device is hosted on a built-in console in the spotter vehicle.

5. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the searching comprises operating a video camera.

6. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the searching comprises operating a sonar detector.

7. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the at least one target object includes a target vehicle for which at least one attribute is a basis for the searching.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7, wherein at least one attribute comprises a particular make, model, or color of the target vehicle.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the confirming comprises notifying the detected at least one target object of the detecting.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the confirming comprises notifying a third-party entity of the detecting.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10, wherein the third-party entity comprises a service-provider.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise:

requesting a detection confirmation from the detected at least one target object.

13. A detection method, comprising:

detecting, by a first object, a target vehicle that has at least one designated attribute;

confirming, by the first object, that the detected target vehicle is within an unobstructed or partially obstructed line of sight of the first object; and

confirming, by the first object, that the target vehicle has been detected within the unobstructed or partially obstructed line of sight of the first object.

14. The detection method of claim 13, wherein the first object is controlled by an application hosted on a spotter vehicle.

15. The detection method of claim 13, wherein the first object is controlled by an application hosted on a client device.

16. The detection method of claim 13, wherein the detecting includes performing the detecting by a surveillance system, associated with the first object, that is configured to have 360°

detection capabilities.

17. The detection method of claim 13, wherein the confirming, by the first object, that the target vehicle has been detected within the unobstructed or partially obstructed line of sight of the first object comprises transmitting a confirmation signal to a third-party server.

18. The detection method of claim 17, further comprising:

receiving, from the third-party server, a commercial reward.

19. The detection method of claim 13, wherein the confirming, by the first object, that the target vehicle has been detected within the unobstructed or partially obstructed line of sight of the first object comprises transmitting a confirmation request to the detected target vehicle.

20. The detection method of claim 13, further comprising:

receiving, from the detected target object, a signal confirming detection thereof by the first object.

21. A vehicle detection system, comprising:

a detector configured to;

search for at least one target vehicle that matches a particular criterion,

indicate that the at least one target vehicle that matches the particular criterion has been detected in an at least partially unobstructed line of sight in relation to a host of the vehicle detection system; and

a confirmation module operatively coupled to the detector and configured to confirm that the at least one target vehicle that matches the particular criterion has been detected in a partially obstructed line of sight in relation to the host of the vehicle detection system.

22. The vehicle detection system of claim 21, wherein the detector includes a camera mounted on or located in the host of the vehicle detection system.

23. The vehicle detection system of claim 21, wherein the detector includes a laser mounted on or located in the host of the vehicle detection system.

24. The vehicle detection system of claim 21, wherein the host of the vehicle detection system includes another vehicle.

25. The vehicle detection system of claim 21, wherein the host of the vehicle detection system is mounted on a stationary tower or a kiosk.

26. The vehicle detection system of claim 21, wherein to confirm that the at least one target vehicle that matches the particular criterion has been detected, the confirmation module is configured to request confirmation from the at least one target vehicle.

27. The vehicle detection system of claim 21, wherein to confirm that the at least one target vehicle that matches the particular criterion has been detected, the confirmation module is configured to receive confirmation from the at least one target vehicle.
