Abstract

A valve prosthesis for replacing an atrioventricular valve of the heart is disclose, having a double ring body, on which heart cusps are fastened and that comprises a ventricle-side ring and an atrium-side ring, wherein the ventricle-side ring has an oval shape, and wherein anchors projecting substantially radially outward are arranged on the ventricle-side ring.

Claims

1. Valve prosthesis for replacing an atrioventricular valve of the heart with a double ring body, on which heart cusps are fastened and that comprises a ventricle-side ring and an atrium-side ring, wherein the ventricle-side ring has an oval shape, characterized in that anchors projecting substantially radially outward are arranged on the ventricle-side ring.

2. The valve prosthesis according to claim 1, characterized in that anchors are provided only in sectors of the ring that are not located in the area of an outflow passage of a heart chamber.

3. The valve prosthesis according to claim 1, characterized in that the anchors are arranged only in sectors of the ventricle-side oval ring through whose angles the longer axis of the ring runs.

4. The valve prosthesis according to claim 3, characterized in that the angles of the sectors are smaller than 160°

5. The valve prosthesis according to claim 1, characterized in that the anchors are loop-shaped.

6. The valve prosthesis according to claim 1, characterized in that the double ring body has an axially middle area between the ventricle-side ring and the atrium-side ring whose diameter is less than the diameter of the ventricle-side ring and of the atrium-side ring.

7. The valve prosthesis according to claim 1, characterized in that the diameter of the ventricle-side ring is less than the diameter of the atrial-side ring.

8. The valve prosthesis according to claim 1, characterized in that the double ring body is adapted not to generate a radial spreading force that substantially widens the valve annulus when used in the valve annulus.

9. The valve prosthesis according to claim 1, characterized in that the double ring body is formed from a braiding, in particular from a material with shape memory.

10. The valve prosthesis according to claim 1, characterized in that the double ring body can be expanded by balloon.

11. The valve prosthesis according to claim 1, characterized in that the double ring body can be self-expanded.
