Abstract

A display and a sub-pixel driving method therein are provided. The display includes a data line and a sub-pixel. The data line is configured to provide a data voltage signal. The sub-pixel includes a driving unit, a first light-emitting unit and a second light-emitting unit. The driving unit is configured to generate a driving current according to the data voltage signal. The first light-emitting unit is configured to emit light by the driving current and generate an operating voltage according to the driving current. The second light-emitting unit is selectively substituted for the first light-emitting unit to emit light according to a variation of the operating voltage.

Claims

1. A display, comprising:

a data line configured to provide a data voltage signal; and

a sub-pixel, comprising;

a driving unit configured to generate a driving current according to the data voltage signal;

a first light-emitting unit configured to emit light by the driving current and generates an operating voltage according to the driving current; and

a second light-emitting unit configured to be selectively substituted for the first light-emitting unit to emit light according to a variation of the operating voltage.

2. The display of claim 1, wherein the sub-pixel further comprises a comparison unit configured to compare the operating voltage with a reference voltage so as to determine to drive the first light-emitting unit or the second light-emitting unit to emit light.

3. The display of claim 2, wherein when the operating voltage is substantially smaller than the reference voltage, the first light-emitting unit emits light by the driving current;

when the operating voltage is substantially larger than or equal to the reference voltage, the second light-emitting unit emits light by the driving current.

4. The display of claim 2, wherein the sub-pixel further comprises:

a first switch unit electrically coupled to the first light-emitting unit, the driving unit and the comparison unit; and

a second switch unit electrically coupled to the second light-emitting unit, the driving unit and the comparison unit;

wherein the comparison unit compares the operating voltage with the reference voltage so as to generate a control signal, the control signal is configured to conduct one of the first switch unit and the second switch unit so as to drive one of the first light-emitting unit and the second light-emitting unit corresponding to the conducted one of the first switch unit and the second switch unit.

5. A sub-pixel driving method for a sub-pixel, wherein the sub-pixel comprises a first light-emitting component and a second light-emitting component, the sub-pixel driving method comprising:

generating a driving current according to a data voltage signal;

driving the first light-emitting component to emit light by the driving current and generating an operating voltage by the first light-emitting component according to the driving current; and

selectively substituting the second light-emitting component for the first light-emitting component to emit light according to a variation of the operating voltage.

6. The sub-pixel driving method of claim 5, wherein the step of selectively substituting the second light-emitting component for the first light-emitting component to emit light according to the variation of the operating voltage comprises:

comparing the operating voltage with a reference voltage so as to determine to drive the first light-emitting component or the second light-emitting component to emit light.

7. The sub-pixel driving method of claim 6, wherein the step of selectively substituting the second light-emitting component for the first light-emitting component to emit light according to the variation of the operating voltage further comprises:

driving the first light-emitting component to emit light when the operating voltage is substantially smaller than the reference voltage; and

driving the second light-emitting component to emit light when the operating voltage is substantially larger than or equal to the reference voltage.

8. A display, comprising:

a data line configured to provide a data voltage signal;

a sub-pixel, comprising;

a first light-emitting component comprising a first terminal and a second terminal, wherein the first terminal is configured to receive a first voltage;

a second light-emitting component comprising a first terminal and a second terminal, wherein the first terminal is configured to receive the first voltage;

a first transistor comprising a first terminal, a second terminal and a control terminal, wherein the first terminal is configured to receive a driving current corresponding to the data voltage signal, and the second terminal is electrically coupled to the second terminal of the first light-emitting component;

a second transistor comprising a first terminal, a second terminal and a control terminal, wherein the first terminal is configured to receive the driving current, and the second terminal is electrically coupled to the second terminal of the second light-emitting component; and

a comparator comprising a first input terminal, a second input terminal and an output terminal, wherein the first input terminal is electrically coupled to the second terminal of the first light-emitting component and the second terminal of the first transistor, the second input terminal is configured to receive a reference voltage, and the output terminal is electrically coupled to the control terminal of the first transistor and the control terminal of the second transistor.

9. The display of claim 8, wherein the sub-pixel further comprises:

a third transistor comprising a first terminal, a second terminal and a control terminal, wherein the first terminal is configured to receive a second voltage, the second terminal is electrically coupled to the first terminal of the first transistor and the first terminal of the second transistor, and the control terminal is electrically coupled to the data line; and

a capacitor comprising a first terminal and a second terminal, wherein the first terminal is electrically coupled to the first terminal of the third transistor, and the second terminal is electrically coupled the control terminal of the third transistor.

10. The display of claim 9, wherein the sub-pixel further comprises:

a fourth transistor comprising a first terminal, a second terminal and a control terminal, wherein the first terminal is electrically coupled to the control terminal of the third transistor, the second terminal is electrically coupled to the data line, and the control terminal is configured to receive a selection signal.

11. The display of claim 8, wherein characteristic of the first transistor and characteristic of the second transistor are complementary.
