Abstract
Fiber optic connectors and adapters may be automatically secured and released via a management system. Such automation may inhibit accidental and/or unauthorized insertion of fiber optic connectors into adapter ports. The automation also may inhibit accidental and/or unauthorized removal of the fiber optic connectors from the adapter ports.

2. A connector system comprising:

a coupling assembly defining a port having an insertion axis, the coupling assembly including a lock member disposed within the port, the lock member being configured to move within the coupling assembly between a locking position and a releasing position, the lock member being configured to inhibit movement along the insertion axis of a plug connector received at the port when the lock member is disposed in the locking position, the lock member allowing movement of the plug connector along the insertion axis when the lock member is disposed in the releasing position; and an actuator coupled to the coupling assembly, the actuator being configured to move the stop member between the locking and releasing positions, the actuator being controlled by a management system including a processor and a user interface. - View Dependent Claims (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21)
