Abstract

In some implementations, a camera may be disposed on an autonomous aerial platform. A user may operate a smart wearable device adapted to configured, and/or operate video data acquisition by the camera. The camera may be configured to produce a time stamp, and/or a video snippet based on receipt of an indication of interest from the user. The aerial platform may comprise a controller configured to navigate a target trajectory space. In some implementation, a data acquisition system may enable the user to obtain video footage of the user performing an action from the platform circling around the user.

Claims

1. A video acquisition system comprising:

a mobile camera apparatus configured to obtain video of a subject of interest;

a controller configured to navigate the apparatus along a trajectory configured in accordance with a position of the subject of interest; and

an interface configured to detect an indication from a wearable device and to produce an event signal;

wherein;

the event signal being configured to enable access to a portion of the video at a time associated with the detection of the indication.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein:

the trajectory comprises a path around a subject of interest, the path characterized by a first distance and a second distance from the subject of interest; and

the controller is configured to maintain the platform within a range between the first distance and the second distance.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein:

the mobile camera apparatus comprises a camera;

when at a first location of the circular path, the camera orientation is characterized by a first direction

when at a second location of the circular path, the camera orientation is characterized by a second direction different from the first direction;

individual ones of the first and the second direction are configured to orient the camera at the subject of interest; and

during navigation of the circular path the controller is configured transition the camera orientation from the first direction to the second direction.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein:

the video comprises a plurality of frames characterizes by frame dimension; and

the transition of the camera orientation from the first direction to the second direction is characterized by a plurality of angular adjustments, individual ones of the plurality of angular adjustments configured to cause displacement of the subject of interest location between two consecutive frames of the plurality of frames that is not greater than 5% of the frame dimension.

5. The system of claim 2, wherein the controller is configured to, based on detection of an object along the trajectory, to modify the trajectory so as to avoid a collision with the object while maintaining the platform within the range.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein:

the trajectory is characterized by a first range and a second range from a subject of interest; and

during the trajectory navigation the controller is configured to;

navigate the platform along a path of a plurality of available paths, the path being maintained within an extent no closer than the first range to the subject of interest and no farther than the second range from the subject of interest; and

select another path of the plurality of available paths based on a path adaptation parameter.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the path adaptation parameter comprises one or more of a time interval and location of the platform.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein:

the portion comprises a first segment characterized by a first duration and a second segment characterized by a second duration;

the first segment corresponds to video occurring during an interval of the first duration preceding the indication; and

the second segment corresponds to video occurring during an interval of the second duration subsequent to the indication.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein:

a mobile camera apparatus is configured to obtain video of a subject of interest at a first data rate and a second data rate, the second data rate exceeding the first data rate by at least a factor of four; and

the indication is configured to cause video being obtained at the second data rate at least during a segment of the portion subsequent to the indication.

10. The system of claim 9, further comprising:

a storage medium configured to store the video at the second data rate; and

a wireless communications interface configured to communicate video to the wearable device at the first data rate.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein:

the video comprises a plurality of frames;

individual frames of the plurality of frames of video at the second data rate are characterized by resolution that is greater than resolution of individual frames of the plurality of frames of video at the first data rate.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein:

the video comprises a plurality of frames characterized by a frame rate;

the frame rate video at the second data rate is configured to exceed frame rate of video at the first data rate by at least a factor of two.

13. The system of claim 9, wherein:

the mobile camera apparatus platform comprises a multi rotor unmanned aerial vehicle and a camera disposed thereupon; and

during navigation of the trajectory the controller is configured to adjust orientation of the unmanned aerial vehicle so as to point the camera at the subject of interest.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein:

the wireless communications interface is disposed on the unmanned aerial vehicle;

the wearable device comprises a portable wireless communications apparatus comprising a user interface device configured to present the video communicated via the wireless communications interface.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein:

the user interface device is configured to effectuate selection of the subject of interest based on the video presentation;

the controller is configured to adjust the trajectory based on the selection received from the portable wireless communications apparatus via the wireless communications interface.

16. The system of claim 14, wherein the user interface device comprises a display.

17. The system of claim 13, wherein:

the portable wireless communications apparatus comprises a watch comprising a tactile input component; and

the indication is provided based on a detection of an activation of the tactile component.

18. The system of claim 14, wherein:

the multi rotor unmanned aerial vehicle comprises a plurality of actuators;

during navigation of the trajectory the controller is configured to operate individual ones of the plurality of actuators; and

the camera direction adjustment is configured based on the controller operating at least one of the plurality of actuators.
