Abstract

The present invention relates to a wireless communication system and, more particularly, to a method and apparatus for changing services in a direct communication system. A method for setting up a session in a first wireless device supporting a Wi-Fi direct service, according to one embodiment of the present invention, can include the steps of: setting up a connection between a first wireless device and a second wireless device, which includes a provision discovery process between the first wireless device and the second wireless device for creating a session for a first service; and transmitting a request_session message from the first wireless device to the second wireless device for creating a session for a second service. Session information for the second service can be included in the request_session message.

Claims

1. A method of setting up a session in a first wireless device supporting a Wi-Fi Direct service, comprising:

setting up a connection between the first wireless device and a second wireless device comprising a provision discovery process between the first wireless device and the second wireless device to create a session for a first service; and

transmitting a session request (REQUEST_SESSION) message to the second wireless device from the first wireless device to create a session for a second service,

wherein session information on the second service is included in the session request message.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein if the first wireless device has a connection with the second wireless device, a provision discovery process is omitted from a process of creating a session for the second service.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein session information on the first service is contained in a provision discovery request message.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of a device discovery process and a service discovery process is performed before the connection is setup.

The method of claim 1, wherein a device discovery process comprises a probe request frame transmitted to the second wireless device from the first wireless device and a probe response frame received from the second wireless device by the first wireless device and wherein at least one of the probe request frame and the probe response frame comprises at least one of a plurality of service names or a plurality of service hash values for the first service and the second service.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of setting up the connection further comprises a P2P group formation process.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein if an ASP (application service platform) of the first wireless device receives a ConnectSession method from a service layer of the first wireless device, the ASP creates a new ASP-session as a service seeker and changes to an Initiate state.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein if a session addition (ADDED_SESSION) message is received from the second wireless device in response to the session request (REQUEST_SESSION) message, the ASP of the first wireless device changes the Initiate state to an Open state.

The method of claim 7, wherein if a connection exists between the first wireless device and the second wireless device, the ASP of the first wireless device is changed to a GroupFormationComplete state and wherein if a connection does not exist between the first wireless device and the second wireless device, the ASP of the first wireless device is changed to a ServiceRequestSent state.

10. The method of claim 7, wherein if a session rejection (REJECTED_SESSION) message is received from the second wireless device in response to the session request (REQUESTED_SESSION) message, the ASP of the first wireless device is changed to a Closed state from the Initiate state.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein if the session for the second service is created, a port assigned to the session for the first service is released.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the first service corresponds to one of services configured to support a Send, a Play, a Display, a Print and a third party application.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the first wireless device corresponds to a service seeker and wherein the second wireless device corresponds to a service advertiser.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein the connection between the first wireless device and the second wireless device corresponds to a P2P (peer-to-peer) connection or an IP (internet protocol) connection.

15. A method of setting up a session in a second wireless device supporting a Wi-Fi Direct service, comprising:

setting up a connection between a first wireless device and the second wireless device comprising a provision discovery process between the first wireless device and the second wireless device to create a session for a first service; and

receiving a session request (REQUEST_SESSION) message from the first wireless device in the second wireless device to create a session for a second service,

wherein session information on the second service is included in the session request message.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein if an ASP of the second wireless device receives the session request (REQUEST_SESSION) message from the first wireless device, the ASP creates a new ASP-session as a service advertiser and changes to a Requested state.

The method of claim 15, wherein when a connection exists between the first wireless device and the second wireless device, if an ASP of the second wireless device receives the session request (REQUEST_SESSION) message from the first wireless device, the ASP of the second wireless device informs a user of the second wireless device or an application of the second wireless device of reception of the session request message and information indicating acceptance or rejection of the session request is received from the user or the application.

The method of claim 15, wherein if an ASP of the second wireless device receives the session request (REQUEST_SESSION) message from the first wireless device, the ASP of the second wireless device is changed to a ServiceRequestReceived state, wherein if a connection exists between the first wireless device and the second wireless device, the ASP of the second wireless device is changed from the ServiceRequestReceived state to an Open state, and wherein if the connection does not exist between the first wireless device and the second wireless device, the ASP of the second wireless device is changed from the ServiceRequestReceived state to a GroupFormationStarted state.

19. A first wireless device supporting a Wi-Fi Direct service and performing session setup, comprising:

a transceiver; and

a processor, the processor configured to setup a connection between the first wireless device and a second wireless device comprising a provision discovery process between the first wireless device and the second wireless device to create a session for a first service, the processor configured to control the transceiver to transmit a session request (REQUEST_SESSION) message to the second wireless device from the first wireless device to create a session for a second service,

wherein session information on the second service is included in the session request message.

20. A second wireless device supporting a Wi-Fi Direct service and performing session setup, comprising:

a transceiver; and

a processor, the processor configured to setup a connection between a first wireless device and the second wireless device comprising a provision discovery process between the first wireless device and the second wireless device to create a session for a first service, the processor configured to control the transceiver to receive a session request (REQUEST_SESSION) message from the first wireless device in the second wireless device to create a session for a second service,

wherein session information on the second service is included in the session request message.
