Abstract

A method of arranging an icon on an electronic device includes displaying a plurality of icons in a plurality of regions of a user interface (UI), receiving a user input for each of at least one region displaying an icon among the plurality of regions, and arranging an icon selected based on the received user input in a region corresponding to a number indicated by the received user input.

Claims

1. A method of arranging an icon in an electronic device, the method comprising:

displaying a plurality of icons in a plurality of regions of a user interface (UI);

receiving a user input for each of at least one region displaying an icon among the plurality of regions; and

arranging an icon selected based on the received user input in a region corresponding to a number indicated by the received user input.

The method of claim 1, wherein the receiving of the user input comprises receiving a handwriting input performed by drawing a number on each of the at least one region displaying the icon among the plurality of regions, a touch-down input corresponding to a number, or a long-touch input performed for a time period corresponding to the number.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the arranging of the selected icon further comprises determining the number indicated by the received user input, and

the determining of the number indicated by the received user input further comprises displaying the determined number in the at least one region.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the arranging of the selected icon further comprises displaying a preview of the icon arranged in the region corresponding to the number.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising displaying setting a number for each of the plurality of regions.

The method of claim 5, wherein, when the UI includes a plurality of pages, the setting of the number for each of the plurality of regions comprises sequentially setting numbers for all of the plurality of regions included in the plurality of pages or setting numbers for a plurality of regions included in each of the plurality of pages.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising receiving a user input for selecting at least one page among the plurality of pages, and

wherein the arranging of the selected icon further comprises arranging the selected icon in a region corresponding to the selected at least one page and the number.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining an arrangement of a related icon that has being arranged in the region corresponding to the number before the selected icon is arranged .

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising arranging the related icon in a region in which the selected icon has been arranged.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein the determining of the arrangement of the related icon comprises:

receiving a user input for selecting a plurality of related icons; and

arranging the plurality of related icons in regions corresponding to the indicated numbers, based on an order in which the plurality of related icons are selected or numbers set for respective regions displaying the plurality of related icons.

11. An electronic device comprising:

a display unit configured to display a plurality of icons in a plurality of regions of a user interface (UI);

an input unit configured to receive a user input for each of at least one region displaying an icon among the plurality of regions; and

a controller configured to control the display unit to arrange an icon selected based on the user input in a region corresponding to a number indicated by the user input.

The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the user input is a handwriting input performed by drawing a number on each of the at least one region displaying the icon among the plurality of regions, a touch-down input corresponding to the number, or a long-touch input performed for a time period corresponding to the number.

13. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the controller is configured to control the display unit to display the number in at least one region.

14. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the controller is configured to control the display unit to display a preview of the icon arranged in the region corresponding to the number.

15. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the controller sets a number for each of the plurality of regions.

16. The electronic device of claim 15, wherein, when the UI includes a plurality of pages, the controllers is configured to sequentially set numbers for all of the plurality of regions included in the plurality of pages or set numbers for a plurality of regions included in each of the plurality of pages.

17. The electronic device of claim 16, wherein the input unit is configured to receive a user input for selecting at least one page among the plurality of pages, and

the controller is configured to arrange the selected icon in a region corresponding to the selected at least one page and the number.

18. The electronic device of claim 11, wherein the controller is configured to determine an arrangement of related icon that has being arranged in the region corresponding to the number before the selected icon is arranged.

19. The electronic device of claim 18, wherein the controller is configured to arrange the related icon in a region in which the selected icon has been arranged.

20. The electronic device of claim 18, wherein the input unit is configured to receive a user input for selecting a plurality of related,

wherein the controller is configured to arrange the plurality of related icons in regions corresponding to numbers indicated by the user input, based on an order in which the plurality of related icons are selected or numbers set for regions displaying the plurality of related icons.
