Abstract

A power transmitting apparatus, which has a capability of wirelessly transmitting power to a power receiving apparatus, obtains time information indicating a time for starting of the power transmission to the power receiving apparatus and controls a timing of power transmission based on the time information.

Claims

1. A power transmitting apparatus comprising:

a power transmitting unit configured to wirelessly transmit power to a power receiving apparatus;

an obtaining unit configured to obtain time information indicating a time for starting of the power transmission to the power receiving apparatus; and

a control unit configured to control a timing of power transmission by said power transmitting unit based on the time information.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said obtaining unit obtains the time information from the power receiving apparatus.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the time information includes a request start time of power and a request end time of power, and

said control unit causes said power transmitting unit to start power transmission at a time corresponding to the request start time and to end power transmission at a time corresponding to the request end time.

4. The apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said obtaining unit obtains request power information indicating an amount of power requested by the power receiving apparatus in addition to the time information, and

said control unit causes the power transmitting unit to start transmitting the requested amount of power at a time corresponding to the request start time and to end transmitting the requested amount of power at a time corresponding to the request end time.

5. The apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said obtaining unit obtains operation mode information indicating an operation mode of the power receiving apparatus in addition to the time information, and

said control unit causes said power transmitting unit to start transmitting an amount of power corresponding to the operation mode at a time corresponding to the request start time and to end transmitting the amount of power corresponding to the operation mode at a time corresponding to the request end time.

The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a determination unit configured to determine, based on a transmittable power amount of said power transmitting unit, whether it is possible to transmit power to a second power receiving apparatus, when a power request is received from the second power receiving apparatus while said power transmitting unit transmits power to the power receiving apparatus based on the time information,

wherein if said determination unit determines that it is possible to transmit power to the second power receiving apparatus, said control unit controls said power transmitting unit to transmit power from said power transmitting unit to the second power receiving apparatus, and

if said determination unit determines that it is not possible to transmit power to the second power receiving apparatus, said control unit notifies the second power receiving apparatus that it is not possible to transmit power.

The apparatus according to claim 6, further comprising a notification unit configured to notify the second power receiving apparatus of a time when it is possible to transmit power to the second power receiving apparatus, based on a request end time included in the time information, if said determination unit determines that it is not possible to transmit power to the second power receiving apparatus.

8. The apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said determination unit further determines a transmittable amount of power for the second power receiving apparatus, and

said control unit notifies the second power receiving apparatus of a determination result obtained by said determination unit as a transmittable amount of power, and causes said power transmitting unit to transmit the transmittable amount of power to the second power receiving apparatus.

The apparatus according to claim 8, wherein if an amount of power to be transmitted by said power transmitting unit to the second power receiving apparatus is smaller than an amount of power requested by the second power receiving apparatus, and power transmission to the power receiving apparatus is complete during power transmission to the second power receiving apparatus by said power transmitting unit, said control unit increases the amount of power to be transmitted to the second power receiving apparatus.

The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein time information obtained by said obtaining unit includes a plurality of pieces of information indicating a date and a time when the power receiving apparatus starts requesting power and a date and a time when the power receiving apparatus ends requesting power.

11. A method of controlling a power transmitting apparatus including a power transmitting unit configured to wirelessly transmit power to a power receiving apparatus, the method comprising:

a step of obtaining time information indicating a time for staring of the power transmission to the power receiving apparatus; and

a step of controlling a power transmission timing of the power transmitting unit based on the time information.

12. The method according to claim 11, wherein the time information includes a request start time of power and a request end time of power, and

the step of controlling includes causing the power transmitting unit to start power transmission at a time corresponding to the request start time and to end power transmission at a time corresponding to the request end time.

13. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program to be executed by a processor of a power transmitting apparatus including a power transmitting unit configured to wirelessly transmit power to a power receiving apparatus, the program comprising:

a step of obtaining time information indicating a time for starting of the power transmission to the power receiving apparatus; and

a step of controlling a power transmission timing of the power transmitting unit based on the time information.

14. The medium according to claim 13, wherein the time information includes a request start time of power and a request end time of power, and

the step of controlling includes causing the power transmitting unit to start power transmission at a time corresponding to the request start time and to end power transmission at a time corresponding to the request end time.
