Abstract

An aspect provides a method, including: detecting a received communication at a device; detecting, using a device orientation sensor, orientation data relating to device orientation; the orientation data being associated in time with the received communication; determining, using the orientation data, a value for a magnitude of a notification of the received communication; and adjusting, using a processor of the device, the magnitude of the notification of the received communication according to the value. Other aspects are described and claimed.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

detecting a received communication at a device;

detecting, using a device orientation sensor, orientation data relating to device orientation;

the orientation data being associated in time with the received communication;

determining, using the orientation data, a value for a magnitude of a notification of the received communication; and

adjusting, using a processor of the device, the magnitude of the notification of the received communication according to the value.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising detecting, using a device sensor, biometric data;

wherein the determining comprises using the biometric data to determine the value for the magnitude of the notification.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the determining comprises matching audible data to a specific predetermined user.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising detecting, using a device charging element, charging status;

wherein the determining comprises using the charging status to determine the value for the magnitude of the notification.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising adjusting, using a processor of the device, the duration of the notification of the received communication according to the value.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the adjusting the duration comprises extending the notification a predetermined number of rings beyond a voice call termination.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the adjusting the duration comprises adjusting one or more of a volume of a ring and a sound of a ring for the predetermined number of rings beyond voice call termination.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising adjusting, using a processor of the device, the mode of the notification of the received communication according to the value.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein adjusting the mode comprises switching off a haptic mode of notification.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising detecting, using a device communication element, proximity of a predetermined wearable user device;

wherein the determining comprises using the proximity of the predetermined wearable user device to determine the value for the magnitude of the notification.

11. A device, comprising:

a processor;

at least one device sensor operatively coupled to the processor;

a communication element that receives a communication;

an output element that provides a notification of a received communication; and

a memory operatively coupled to the processor that stores instructions executable by the processor, the instructions comprising;

instructions that detect a received communication;

instructions that detect, using a device orientation sensor, orientation data relating to device orientation;

the orientation data being associated in time with the received communication;

instructions that determine, using the orientation data, a value for a magnitude of a notification of the received communication; and

instructions that adjust the magnitude of the notification of the received communication according to the value.

12. The device of claim 11, further comprising instructions that detect, using the sensor, biometric data;

and

wherein the instructions that determine a value comprise instructions that use the biometric data to determine the value for the magnitude of the notification.

13. The device of claim 12, wherein the instructions that determine a value further comprise instructions that match audible data to a specific predetermined user.

14. The device of claim 11, further comprising a charging element;

wherein the instructions that determine a value comprise instructions that use charging status data to determine the value for the magnitude of the notification.

15. The device of claim 11, wherein the instructions further comprise instructions that adjust the duration of the notification of the received communication according to the value.

16. The device of claim 15, wherein adjusting the duration comprises extending the notification a predetermined number of rings beyond a voice call termination.

17. The device of claim 16, wherein adjusting the duration comprises adjusting one or more of a volume of a ring and a sound of a ring for the predetermined number of rings beyond voice call termination.

18. The device of claim 11, wherein the instructions further comprise instructions that adjust the mode of the notification of the received communication according to the value.

19. The device of claim 18, wherein adjusting the mode comprises switching off a haptic mode of notification.

20. The device of claim 11, wherein the instructions further comprise instructions that detect, using a device communication element, proximity of a predetermined wearable user device;

wherein the instructions that determine a value comprise instructions that use the proximity of the predetermined wearable user device to determine the value for the magnitude of the notification.

21. The device of claim 11, wherein the at least one device sensor comprises a 9-axis device sensor.

22. A method, comprising:

detecting a received communication at a device;

detecting, using a device sensor, biometric data relating to a user;

the biometric data being associated in time with the received communication;

determining, using the biometric data, a value for a magnitude of a notification of the received communication; and

adjusting, using a processor of the device, the magnitude of the notification of the received communication according to the value.

23. A method, comprising:

detecting a received communication at a device;

detecting, using a device element, device status data relating to another device;

the device status data being associated in time with the received communication;

determining, using the device status data, a value for a magnitude of a notification of the received communication; and

adjusting, using a processor of the device, the magnitude of the notification of the received communication according to the value.
