Abstract

A seat assembly is provided and may include a base assembly, a first arm, a seat bottom assembly, a second arm, and an adjustment arm. The base assembly may be mounted to a vehicle. The first arm may be rotatably coupled to the base assembly and may be operable to rotate relative to the base assembly about a first axis of rotation. The seat bottom assembly may be rotatably coupled to the first arm and may be operable to rotate relative to the first arm about a second axis of rotation. The second arm may be rotatably coupled to the seat bottom assembly and may be operable to rotate relative to the seat bottom assembly about a third axis of rotation. The adjustment arm may include an adjustment mechanism, and may be rotatably coupled to the second arm and rotatably coupled to the base assembly. The adjustment mechanism may be operable to rotate the adjustment arm relative to the base assembly about a fourth axis of rotation.

Claims

1. A seat assembly for a vehicle, the seat assembly comprising:

a base assembly mounted to the vehicle;

a first arm rotatably coupled to said base assembly and operable to rotate relative to said base assembly about a first axis of rotation;

a seat bottom assembly rotatably coupled to said first arm and operable to rotate relative to said first arm about a second axis of rotation;

a second arm rotatably coupled to said seat bottom assembly and operable to rotate relative to said seat bottom assembly about a third axis of rotation;

an adjustment arm including an adjustment mechanism, said adjustment arm rotatably coupled to said second arm and rotatably coupled to said base assembly, wherein said adjustment mechanism is operable to rotate said adjustment arm relative to said base assembly about a fourth axis of rotation.

2. The seat assembly of claim 1, further comprising a third arm rotatably coupled to said assembly and rotatably coupled to said base assembly.

3. The seat assembly of claim 1, wherein said adjustment mechanism is a continuous adjustment mechanism.

4. The seat assembly of claim 1, further comprising a seat back and a track assembly, wherein said seat back is slidably coupled to said track assembly.

5. The seat assembly of claim 1, where said adjustment mechanism is operable to rotate said seat bottom between a first position and a second position.

6. The seat assembly of claim 5, wherein said first position is substantially perpendicular to said seat back and said second position is substantially parallel to said seat back.

7. A seat assembly comprising:

a seat track assembly including a seat track and a slide mechanism, said slide mechanism operable to move relative to said seat track;

a seat bottom assembly including a seat bottom, said seat bottom assembly mounted to said seat track and said seat bottom operable to rotate in a first direction and a second direction relative to said seat track;

a seat back assembly including a seat back, said seat back assembly mounted to said slide mechanism and said seat back operable to rotate in said first direction and said second direction relative to said seat track.

8. The seat assembly of claim 7, wherein said seat bottom assembly comprises:

a base;

a first arm rotatably coupled to said base and operable to rotate relative to said base about a first axis of rotation;

a support bracket rotatably coupled to said first arm and operable to rotate relative to said first arm about a second axis of rotation;

a second arm rotatably coupled to said support bracket and operable to rotate relative to said support bracket about a third axis of rotation;

an adjustment arm including an adjustment mechanism, said adjustment arm rotatably coupled to said second arm and rotatably coupled to said base, wherein said adjustment mechanism is operable to rotate said adjustment arm relative to said base about a fourth axis of rotation.

The seat assembly of claim 7, wherein said seat back assembly comprises a recliner assembly operable to rotate in said first direction and said second direction, and a linkage assembly including a support bracket and an actuator arm rotatably coupled to said support bracket, wherein said linkage assembly is operable to rotate in said first direction and said second direction, and said linkage assembly is operable to prevent said seat bottom from rotating in said first direction.
