Abstract

Briefly, embodiments disclosed herein may relate to formulating recommended search queries. Search query recommendations may be based, at least in part, on multiple user searches performed at least in part in response to consumption of publicly available content, for example.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

analyzing one or more queries submitted by one or more users at least in part in response to consumption of publicly available content;

generating a plurality of recommended queries based at least in part on said one or more queries submitted by said one or more users; and

transmitting for display one or more of said plurality of recommended queries to one or more other, subsequent users in connection with consumption of said content.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said analyzing said one or more queries submitted by said one or more users comprises:

selecting said one or more users based at least in part on a determination that said one or more users have accessed said content; and

monitoring search queries submitted by said one or more users.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein said selecting said one or more users comprises selecting said one or more users based at least in part on a determination that said one or more users have accessed said content within a specified period of time.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein said specified period of time comprises a period of time beginning approximately at publication of said content and extending approximately a specified length of time.

5. The method of claim 2, wherein said monitoring search queries submitted by said one or more users comprises monitoring search queries submitted by said one or more users during a specified period of time.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein said generating a plurality of recommended queries comprises selecting said one or more users based, at least in part, on one or more demographic attributes and/or one or more browsing behaviors of said one or more users.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein said transmitting for display one or more of said plurality of recommended queries comprises transmitting for display said one or more of said plurality in an area of a web page, wherein said web page further comprises said content.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

receiving a selection of one or more of said one or more recommended queries from a user of said one or more other, subsequent users; and

transmitting to said user a search page for display, said search page to include an area to display said plurality of recommended queries.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising receiving an additional selection of one or more of said one or more recommended queries from said user of said one or more other, subsequent users;

and

transmitting to said user an additional web page for display, said additional web page to include an additional area to display said plurality of recommended queries, such that said plurality of recommended queries appear to said user to follow said user as said user browses from said search page to said additional web page.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein said content comprises digital content.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein said content comprises an electronic document.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein said electronic document comprises a web page.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein said analyzing said one or more queries submitted by one or more users in response to consumption of publicly available content comprises analyzing one or more queries submitted by one or more early users.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein said one or more other, subsequent users comprise one or more later users.

15. An article, comprising:

a non-transitory storage medium having stored thereon instructions executable by a computing device to;

analyze one or more queries submitted by one or more users at least in part in response to consumption of publicly available content;

generate a plurality of recommended queries based at least in part on said one or more queries submitted by said one or more users; and

transmit for display one or more of said plurality of recommended queries to one or more other, subsequent users in connection with consumption of said content.

16. The article of claim 15, wherein the storage medium has stored thereon further instructions executable by the computing device to analyze said one or more queries submitted by said one or more users, the computing device to:

select said one or more users based at least in part on a determination that said one or more users have accessed said content; and

monitor search queries submitted by said one or more users.

17. The article of claim 16, wherein the storage medium has stored thereon further instructions executable by the computing device to select said one or more users based at least in part on a determination that said one or more users have accessed said content within a specified period of time.

18. The article of claim 17, wherein said specified period of time comprises a period of time beginning approximately at publication of said content and extending approximately a specified length of time.

19. The article of claim 16, wherein the storage medium has stored thereon further instructions executable by the computing device to monitor search queries submitted by said one or more users during a specified period of time.

20. The article of claim 15, wherein the storage medium has stored thereon further instructions executable by the computing device to generate a plurality of recommended queries based, at least in part, on one or more demographic attributes and/or one or more browsing behaviors of said one or more users.

The article of claim 15, wherein the storage medium has stored thereon further instructions executable by the computing device to transmit for display one or more of said plurality of recommended queries, the computing device to transmit for display said one or more of said plurality in an area of a web page, wherein said web page further comprises said content.

22. The article of claim 21, wherein the storage medium has stored thereon further instructions executable by the computing device to:

receive a selection of one or more of said one or more recommended queries from a user of said one or more other, subsequent users; and

transmit to said user a search page for display, said search page to include an area to display said plurality of recommended queries.

23. The article of claim 22, wherein the storage medium has stored thereon further instructions executable by the computing device to:

receive an additional selection of one or more of said one or more recommended queries from said user of said one or more other, subsequent users; and

transmit to said user an additional web page for display, said additional web page to include an additional area to display said plurality of recommended queries, such that said plurality of recommended queries appear to said user to follow said user as said user browses from said search page to said additional web page.

24. The article of claim 15, wherein said content comprises digital content.

25. The article of claim 15, wherein said content comprises an electronic document.

26. The article of claim 25, wherein said electronic document comprises a web page.

The article of claim 15, wherein the storage medium has stored thereon further instructions executable by the computing device to analyze said one or more queries submitted by one or more users in response to consumption of publicly available content, the computing device to analyze one or more queries submitted by one or more early users.

28. The article of claim 27, wherein said one or more other, subsequent users comprise one or more later users.

29. An apparatus, comprising:

means for analyzing one or more queries submitted by one or more users at least in part in response to consumption of publicly available content;

means for generating a plurality of recommended queries based at least in part on said one or more queries submitted by said one or more users; and

means for transmitting for display one or more of said plurality of recommended queries to one or more other, subsequent users in connection with consumption of said content.

30. The apparatus of claim 29, wherein said means for analyzing said one or more queries submitted by said one or more users comprises:

means for selecting said one or more users based at least in part on a determination that said one or more users have accessed said content; and

means for monitoring search queries submitted by said one or more users.

31. The apparatus of claim 30, wherein said means for selecting said one or more users comprises means for selecting said one or more users based at least in part on a determination that said one or more users have accessed said content within a specified period of time.

32. The apparatus of claim 31, wherein said specified period of time comprises a period of time beginning approximately at publication of said content and extending approximately a specified length of time.

33. The apparatus of claim 30, wherein said means for monitoring search queries submitted by said one or more users comprises means for monitoring search queries submitted by said one or more users during a specified period of time.

34. The apparatus of claim 29, wherein said means for generating a plurality of recommended queries comprises means for selecting said one or more users based, at least in part, on one or more demographic attributes and/or one or more browsing behaviors of said one or more users.

35. The apparatus of claim 29, wherein said means for transmitting for display one or more of said plurality of recommended queries comprises means for transmitting for display said one or more of said plurality in an area of a web page, wherein said web page further comprises said content.

36. The apparatus of claim 35, further comprising:

means for receiving a selection of one or more of said one or more recommended queries from a user of said one or more other, subsequent users; and

means for transmitting to said user a search page for display, said search page to include an area to display said plurality of recommended queries.

37. The apparatus of claim 36, further comprising means for receiving an additional selection of one or more of said one or more recommended queries from said user of said one or more other, subsequent users;

and

means for transmitting to said user an additional web page for display, said additional web page to include an additional area to display said plurality of recommended queries, such that said plurality of recommended queries appear to said user to follow said user as said user browses from said search page to said additional web page.

38. The apparatus of claim 29, wherein said content comprises digital content.

39. The apparatus of claim 29, wherein said content comprises an electronic document.

40. The apparatus of claim 39, wherein said electronic document comprises a web page.

41. The apparatus of claim 29, wherein said means for analyzing said one or more queries submitted by one or more users in response to consumption of publicly available content comprises means for analyzing one or more queries submitted by one or more early users.

42. The apparatus of claim 41, wherein said one or more other, subsequent users comprise one or more later users.
